You are SO FUNNY .........NOT !!
  2. Same breeder birds going in with same breeder birds and no others will be fine. Just remember though stress of catching and moving can bring out illnesses that are hidden.
  3. Reason for answers.............. white on cere means female. The yellow one has a whitish cere. Purply pinky blue is male
  4. Male Enter this one in the budgie of the month competition
  5. Yellow one is female. White one is male.

If you cant turn it off, place a piece of tape over the flash unit
  7. Its never too young to tell. Only inexperienced people say they cant tell at that age. Many of us here can tell. I can sex baby budgies in the nest at age 3 days. Post a clear photo especially close up of the cere......natural light, no flash and we will tell you
  8. Put them both in at the same time.
  9. Suggest you cut your nestbox doors so when you lift it up nothing falls out. Two thirds of the door you lift and one third stays put. Just remove the nestbox door and run it through the saw and put back in two sections. Like this
  10. Cos the cheek patches look blue not slate blue or grey? At least on my screen! Cheek patches are slate blue.
  11. The topic read when should YOU breed ..........when you are old enough. As far as the budgies go, Weather over those months plays a huge part. Where they will be and how hot it will be you need to consider. No point breeding them when chicks in nests will get real hot. Whats your conditions around that time of year ? and where will the breeding set up be ? Will the birds even be in breeding condition at the time you select ?
  12. Him JB not Her
  13. Suggest you cut your nestbox doors so when you lift it up nothing falls out. Two thirds of the door you lift and one third stays put. Just remove the nestbox door and run it through the saw and put back in two sections.
  14. Try red dot, crazy clarkes or a $2 shop
  15. and some people put them both in at the same time with their nestbox and dont get silly or fussy about it too
  16. 15 cm long ? are you sure of that measurement ? as 15 cms is only 6 inches....very short
  17. I have some hanging under perches in the aviary.
  18. If there is any white on the cere its female. The photos vary although the first makes the cere look white so in that case its female. If that photo isnt showing it true to colour then we need better photos. Spangle yes. Olive ? Why ? Looks grey green to me.

    Great news maddy !!!!!
  20. as to my comments through the post............you have done the right thing in a way by using tree branches but you havent set it up so flight across the cage is acchieved. End result is lack of decent flight exercise in the cages and thus they get fat from inactivity.

Depending on where the screws are depends on if a budgie can get to them or not. They are more likely to chew at something they can get to by walking along a perch and seeing it there and having a nibble. Most shed are assembled by pop rivets. These pose no issues. Worry about it when you get it and then brainstorm all you need to in order to make it safe.
  22. You should see feathers growing back in between 1-2 weeks onwards
  23. I would suggest that the birds would feel vulnerable in the window like that. Good for sunlight but they would feel vulnerable. How old are the birds ? Are you sure of the sexes ? PS Very nice size cages for breeding
  24. A friend of mine....the one I mentioned with the crowded cage had a fat budgie........it was as round as a tennis ball. It has lost weight since being in the aviary As far as prepping the vegies ahead of time.....that good. But watch it carefully as some vegies spoil ( go off ) quicker than others. If you have oranges or lemons or grapefruit.......cut them in half and put a half in each cage for them to chew at. Half of one lasts maybe two days in my aviaries. Put whole carrots in as well. Post pictures.......of the set up and the fat budgie so we can advise better.
