The first lot of birds were our foundation they are cin opaline aosv and also lutinos our cin opalines have been the base line and we took on a few other breeds but out lutinos and aosvs are our strongest we have a few varieties Q5. HOW DO YOU PREPARE YOUR BIRDS FOR THE BREEDING SEASON? We had deep nesting boxes and for a few weeks before we start to bring them in we feed them soaked seed and a baby food mixture that has milk powder and baby ferex in it and egg and biscuit and then we pluck the vents on both the hens and the cocks we have tried cutting the feathers away buti still find plucking is the way to go Q6. Head bopping behaviour is also about being confident and happy and not solely related to being ready to breed.

Suffused or dilutes are regularly show at BRASEA shows http://www.budgerigarrare.com/index.html and at any rare budgerigar shows or club meeting. If they cant be judged then how do all judges who attend these show judge them ? and they do judge them. Just because someone may not have full knowledge of this variety, or maybe not be all that interested in them or understand how it all works does not make it a variety that noone breeds, noone cares about or noone wants to learn about. Hi LisaMariie I suggest you locate a good AVIAN vet ( not normal vet ) and get there as fast as you can. The bird is showing signs of weakness that seems to be serious. Make the appointment and if you have to wait half a day then put some form of warmth near the cage as sick birds cannot regulate their body temperature very well.

There is a real appeal to the eye in the difference between a cinnamon blue and a cinnamon green however, but this also applies to the same look of a greywing blue and a greywing green. So many people dont like seeing opaline in spangles etc so many are against diffused etc TOO MANY just dont like CHANGE.

I think you are doing very well as a newbie to all this. You are very good at taking on board suggestions and advice all for the better conditions for your birds. What happened can happen to anyone. Birds can be so unpredictable, and sometimes the signs are hard to see when trouble is looming.
