  1. Doxy is very successful at treating psittacosis. If you followed a full 6 wks treatment you should be safe. No veggies in the cage, no other sources of moisture and no calcium in the cage
  2. They are expensive and have to be replaced every 6 months I believe.
  3. Clearbodies can also be opaline and this cock IS or appears to be

Hi and welcome. Please read the HOW TO POST PICTURES link in my signature and you will be able to post a picture we can see. You have your work cut out for you. Taming one budgie is easy but two housed in one cage means it will be way harder. They tend to bond to each other and not you. They are each others FLOCK at the exclusion of you. Best of luck though
  5. Looks female from those cere shots
  6. A budgie escaping at nightfall would ( after a little fly around ) settle in a tree for the night, but with the sun coming up would fly off again. Also all of this would depend on if any other birds or animals were chasing him off.
  7. Post a lost and found on GUMTREE and also leave details with the RSPCA. Post notices ANYWHERE near you that sells bird seed, as rescuers often head straight for such places to get them food. If he has a legring with codes on it leave those details too. There are many lost and found sites on the net too that you can place a free advert with. If you get him back it may not be wise to allow him straight back in with his hen. He may come back carrying a disease and also the stress of being out in the real world might be too much for him to just take up where he left off. Best of luck finding him. Often they are very close to where they went missing from. PS find anyone in your area that has bird aviaries. Birds that go missing have a tendency to land in at other peoples bird aviaries drawn to them by the bird chatter. We have found many a budgie and other bird landing on our aviary wire over the years. Pays to keep a net handy by the aviary we have found.
  8. The one with the white head is opaline
  9. The feather thing on the side of its face is due to being handreared. They get food on their face and when it gets picked off or wiped off sometimes feathers go with it. the feathers will grown back in shortly. Your budgie is a BOY budgie.....sky violet or cobalt...harder to tell the shade as you used a flash on the camera PS Welcome
  10. I said both would be female if they were both opaline, but you seem to have one that isnt opaline. We need more piks of that one and both will be blue series so that means the Dad is split blue
  11. Both would have to be greywing Splat not just one.
  12. Interestingly I paired two budgies that all and sundry had declared dilutes as they were pale enough to be dilute. Chick they hatched out was full body colour light green greywing. Unfortunately parent attacked it last night and despite all attempts by me it passed away.
  13. http://forums.budgiebreeders.asn.au/index.php?showtopic=18548 we have a search function on the forum and also a very extensive FAQ section
  14. 60 cms wide would be better....we use breeding cages 60cm by 41 by 41
  15. Sorry typo..........meant wide not side
  16. Hi He is a light green spangle and VERY HANDSOME TOO !!
  17. Read how to post piks in my signature PS escaping budgies is a good reason to get a safety door fitted to an aviary.
  18. Bump..........since the old 2008 topic is where people have been posting
  19. TAZ...............read my last post.........this is the 2008 topic that has been dredged up. use the link for the 2011 topic please .
  20. Thank you for the encouragement, birdluv! The slow interaction makes a lot of sense. And two bonded budgies sounds so nice. Hi Tiamungie............I noticed you are new to the forum, but you havent actually managed to make a post as you may have hoped to. Please go to our New to BBC section and introduce yourself. Cheers kaz
  21. Thanks for info on top prices paid at the auction , do you know what henry geroge birds went for Hi Terry..........I see you are new. As such you may not have noticed that this topic is from 2008 and not a recent post. Try not to drag up old topics like this. You may find more recent Hills Auction topics if you look in our auction forum Latest hills auction topic here http://forums.budgiebreeders.asn.au/index.php?showtopic=30830 Cheers kaz
  22. Looks a bit small ( not side enough ) ...whats the dimensions ?
  23. **KAZ** replied to Mana's topic in Budgie Pictures
Bob is a dominant pied lt green. Jack is a yellowface sky opaline and may be carrying violet. Jill is a green opaline and poor ol' schoolboy we need to see a closer picture of
  24. Best to have a breeding cage with one male, one female and their nestbox and no other budgies in the same cage. A show box isnt big enough to breed in so can you clarify what you actually bought ? They have to be in peak condition and not be moulting.
