Spangle to spangle pairings gives you a one in four chance ( 25% ) of a double factor spangle chick so YES you do have a white df spangle

Mum is plucking them and they arent 3 weeks old either The caked on poop is something you should have been addressing with twice daily nestchecks.
  4. I was going to be flying over for that one but plans have since changed
  5. okay..............cabinet breeding. Can still be being accessed by mice. Other than that an egg eating parent. Some parents will do this when severely stressed. More info needed Benny
  6. Not enough information Bennyboy....................... Breeding cabinets or colony breeding ? How many budgies in the cage where the nestbox is ? Photo of your set up ? Cage or aviary breeding ? Location of cage ? We arent mindreaders....so the best answers you can get have to be based on FULL INFORMATION supplied

Good to hear both you and Boris are doing well
  8. Ivermectin is available from any good bird vet. You wont find it over the counter unless you are prepared to buy a large and expensive cattle pour on kind from a stockfeed supplier. Most budgie clubs sell it from their products tables and most show budgie breeders keep it on hand. Scatt is not available in Australia. Dose one, dose them all. Never assume its only one and the others havent got it.
  9. Love your photos...........look forward to them all the time
  10. Assume most cocks are carrying cinnamon and opaline these days..........99.9% of them are....so you may end up with a nest of 50% cinnamon opaline normals green series babies and 50% opaline cinnamon green series dom pieds
  11. NO. she is a dom pied opaline cinnamon sky blue hen
  12. Good luck Jac. Look forward to the ongoing story
  13. Pull your head in Taylor Noone is having a go at you. It would be neglectful of us here if it wasnt pointed out that these fringes have issues. AND when I said about trimming it shorter its to prevent things we have experienced. If you carefully read GB's comment you will realise she also didnt believe it would be an issue until it actually was. So you can believe what you want but I am sure if your budgies were hung too you wouldnt rush on here and say we were right about it.

  15. I have lost three budgies in the past to hangings from fringes on the end of rope perches in the aviary....anything with a fringe longer than one inch or 25mm will catch a budgie...........two of mine were found hung by the fringing tight around the neck...the other caught his wing and flapped frantically till it died from the stress of it. Now anything like that the fringing gets cut off real short. until the first time you find one hung by the neck and dead. Do yourself a favour ...go into the aviary and cut off the fringing.
  16. A lot of people with pet budgies use them. I dont. My thoughts are they are not really able to be fully cleaned in a healthy way like a wooden perch you can sandpaper and clean and disinfect. I have also seen rope perches fraying and those threads hanging off can then be a danger.
  17. She is sideways on the perch and thus you cannot see all of her tail
  18. Smaller ? No. But usually affects feet and the use of them...Weaker grip etc, sitting sideways on its toes..............toes seem to be used like a platform not each toe around perch gripping it properly. If his feet are affected in this way, best not to use him for breeding..........besides he may not be able to grip the hen properly for mating. Only ever use the best of the best for breeding...not ones with issues.
  19. Usually due to lack of calcium as a growing chick in the nestbox Taylor
  20. Hi Jac, You posted your first post by tacking it onto another persons thread, so I separated it out into its own topic. I think you will find it very hard to raise a chick from an egg. Better you find a breeder willing to let you handle your baby daily in its nest while being parent raised. Raising it from an egg is dangerous and loss of life is to be expected...........its rare you will have a chick survive that. Too much can go wrong, and you would have to be devoted to it 24 hrs a day. Hopefully you can find a breeder willing to work with you, but you may find it near impossible for anyone to sell you a fertile egg. PS welcome
  21. Taylor......what do you call feet slanting ??
  22. Based on the lines down the beak she may well have scalyface. So, treatment is spot on ivermectin ( from the vet ) ...........one spot on the skin under the feathers on the back of her head. Please remove the mirror..............one of them is feeding the mirror and it affects their mental state. She is also moulting.
