Omelette's Babies
This hen is very unusual JB....dont go feeling sorry for her. She has proven she is happiest when in the nestbox with eggs and babies. When I tried giving her a holiday in the aviary she went into depression and decline. I very nearly lost her ....she would not eat anfd she sulked. I ended up putting her in a breeding cage with no nestbox with her partner for a little while just to bring her back. She is a hen who prefers to be breeding and she does not like the stresses of the aviary.

As a renter, multiple frames on walls is a no no... but I have an idea which allows muliple photos... maybe a weekend project!?!? Quite frankly Maes........I think they could be a very saleable item in a nice frame- Cactus And Succulants
Suggest frames and prints for your walls in your home- Calcium Supplement's?
I have never come across true grit. But I also use a finely powdered calcium from my bird supply store in addition to calcivet.- Current Babies
Twins ? Oh no Maybe its a dud egg and wont hatch- New Birds
Bad if you are aiming for showing. You hope the babies dont inherit it but I expect some will.- Current Babies
There was a large egg in one of my nestboxes today This babys mask always looks like this and makes me laugh Newly fledged babies learn to eat- New Birds
The spots is called FLECKING and is considered a fault- 2009 Australian Nationals
Are you saying that black AND mature red rings are eligilble? I always thought it was just the previous years i.e. 2008 rings (black) eligible for 2009 Nationals, 2009 rings (red) eligible for 2010 Nationals. Me too- Omelette's Babies
Read our FAQ section on fertile eggs and candling.- Current Babies
Then you are talking to the wrong half of the people- Omelette's Babies
I candled them with a flexible torch. Tap on the box so she gets out and put the torch into the nestbox and see what it shows WITHOUT touching the eggs. A matter of a few seconds...not much of a disturbance.- Current Babies
NO...I have no need to handrear as I breed to improve my show budgie stock. Handrearing is more aimed for the pet market. Besides aviary birds are not treated like poo...........dont know where you get that idea. Aviary birds at least get space to fly andf never have clipped wings- Omelette's Babies

three eggs so far to this pair SIX eggs, four showing fertile so far.- Calcium Supplement's?
Calcivet can go in soft food. Watch the cuttlebone....I dont have much faith in it as it seems its something budgies play with more than ingest. Hard boiled egg only has calcium if you cook the eggshells and grind them to a powder and put through it too. - Cactus And Succulants
