  1. How big is your aviary ? Can you put breeding cabinets in there ?
  2. I am really sorry to hear this Matt, and even sorrier to hear it may make you give up on your budgies. I used to colony breed, but suffered some massacres just like that which has just happened to you. I gave up colony style breeding at that point and began cabinet breeding. I am sure there would be a way you can work it out and move on to cabinet breeding without giving up on the budgies. Give us some more details about your house and so on.......photos would help and we can "brainstorm " and help you get back on track.
  3. Spangles can be used in the place of absent normals a lot of times.
  4. If you have a trusted person who can bid for you at an auction elsewhere, then you might have to consider shipping them in to you in the future.
  5. Great Post lilbabybudgies
  6. If these pictures show the true colours, any white on a budgies cere means female
  7. Wow You have outstanding birds Cant wait to see the chicks. How many pairs in total can you put down to breed at your place ?
  8. Thats good news. I think some of those photos had better go into the budgie of the month competition though mate
  9. Need to know for sure what the white budgie is first
  10. Sounds like she has a broken leg. The black will either be dried blood or the tissue dying due to lack of blood circulation. She needs to go to the bird vet as soon as possible. Poop stuck to her bottom means she is sick and in distress, you need to remove it and wash her bottom. She needs the vet pretty urgently.
  11. This concerns me mate.................... I know these gas heaters need to be serviced every year and ours also needs doing right now. ( A symptom of the heater needing to be serviced I think is red flame where is lights and not blue as it should be .....and also people in the room easily falling asleep while the heater is on ) . As budgies or tiny birds respiratory systems are more sensitive I wonder if he may be actually taking in the emissions from the gas heater and what may seem to be cute in regard to behaviour may actually be a symptom of the gas heater emissions in the room ? Some info to read ........ http://radiologicalcouncil.wa.gov.au/publi...s%20Heaters.pdf http://www.birdchannel.com/media/bird-hous...places.aspx.pdf To understand how a “vent-free” fireplace works, compare it with a gas stove. Both produce an open flame and “vent” into the room instead of to the outdoors. These fireplaces do not have exhaust vents and are connected to a gas line. They may operate on propane or natural gas, similar to your kitchen stove. Following the line of thinking that would preclude you from housing your bird in the kitchen, it would be prudent not to locate your bird in a room with a gas fireplace. Some birds live in or near kitchens with no ill effects. I have a friend whose caiques are kept in the same room as a gas fireplace. Are these people lucky that their birds haven’t succumbed to fumes, or are they extra vigilant when using gas and other appliances around their pets? Let’s explore our options: The first thing to check when contemplating the purchase of a vent-free gas fireplace is whether building and fire codes in your state and town permit home installation. Although many models are marketed to do-it-yourselfers, it is advisable, and may even be required by building codes, that you have a licensed plumber connect the gas line. Is a gas fireplace less safe than your gas stove? The BTU output of a gas fireplace is greater than that of a household gas stove, and therefore will deplete more oxygen than would the stove. Heat-generating devices typically lower the humidity level in the home, but gas appliances may actually increase humidity to undesirable levels. High levels of humidity contribute to the development of mold and mildew as well as to icing on windows during extremely cold weather. If fuel combustion is compromised due to faulty adjustment of gas and air mixture, or through contact of logs with flame, deadly carbon monoxide may result and be dispersed throughout your home. According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission’s (CPSC) booklet, What You Should Know About Combustion Appliances and Indoor Air Pollution, oxygen depletion sensors are required on unvented gas fireplace heaters made after 1982. The sensor automatically shuts off the gas if the oxygen level in the room drops to 18 percent. Some models also include carbon monoxide detectors.
  12. I agree with Birdluv about the wingclip
  13. as others have said the female doesnt look albino in that photo. Not all white budgies are albino just due to body colour being white. They need to have red eyes to be classed as albino. Does she have red eyes ? What ages are they ? They look very young.
  14. Do you have another photo ?

  24. Are you absolutely sure about this ? usually its another female in a colony aviary that throws out the eggs not the mother who laid them.
