Babies fledge between 4 wks and 6 wks usually. At 4 wks they are fully feathered so as long as they are eating and well and fully feathered its fine to leave them out.

If you are certain they are eating well enough when you put them in a kindie cage with other babies you will find they encourage each other to eat.........good time to give them the extras like soft food, grated carrot, finesliced bok choy or spinach, corn on the cob, beetroot, apple, eggfood etc.

If the chicks are eating you dont need to put anything in the cage with them other than other fledged chicks.

Other reasons are empty crops............did you check to see if they had food in their crop ? Breeding cabinet ? or colony breeding ? you didnt say........... if colony breeding other birds can stop a parent going back into their nest to feed their babies for a period of time. This can result in deaths.

Hen do not sit on their eggs the moment they are laid. They wait till they have 3-4 or half a clutch, so getting anxious about her not sitting immediately is kinda wrong information you are operating off. As far as tossing it out goes, maybe hen was stressed from overchecking the box by yourself perhaps ?

I wouldnt put babies in a kindie cage until they could eat. When they fledge the nest the Dads show them how to in in a breeding cage. I use wads of newspaper and peel off the top layers ever couple of days leaving a fresh layer underneath. this works fine if the budgies dont chew it all up Depends a lot on your kind of breeder cabinets too. Photo of yours will help us advise you.

I have greywings, I have spangles and I also have greywing spangles. The cheek patches are a dead giveaway if you have a greywing spangle..........yours is a greywing. The ones that are greywing have blue cheek patches and the ones that are spangle greywings have two colours in their cheek patches.....the blue of the greywing cheek patch with the silvery colour of a spangle running through it. Believe it or not, Renee, despite my tragic attempts at breeding since moving, I have chicks in nests at last. So far 4 greywings, a spangle and chicks hatching in a YF sky cock to cinnamon grey hen nest.............fingers crossed they make it to the perches.

When you are first starting out and need cabinets for breeding and dont have much money.......here's some tips Check bulk rubbish throwout days or the recycle at the tip or ask relatives and friends for old pantry cupboards.......these can easily have mesh fronts made and each shelf section made into a breeding cabinet. old wardrobes can be converted. so can shelving units, bookcases ( if deep enough ) ..... I once made a breeding cabinet out of an old laundry sink cupboard. All you need is to think outside the box about how something can be converted into a breeding cabinet, have a few tools and some aviary mesh.

You put your photos and topic up here expect criticism. You dont have the right to tell people not to criticize or to tell them not to comment in your topic. If you have attitudes like that eventually people dont reply in your topics or offer assistance.
