  8. My yellowbellied babies were early hatchings, where the hen helped them hatch too early. They still had umbilical cord attached and or open navel for germs to get in.

  18. bacterial infection ?
  19. Apparently the horse lick ones are fine for budgies but dont buy the cattle ones.
  20. Young chicks with yellow belly in my experience are due to being hatched too early and not fully absorbing the eggsac before hatching. Some Mums help the chicks out of their shells early. I may be wrong, but this has been my experience with it.
  21. Hope so
  22. A few breeders have HORSE LICKS in their aviary for the birds need for salt and minerals.
  23. Just watch them in the future. There is no hard and fast rule about this......... some people say a plucked baby in the nest becomes a plucker itself...this is NOT TRUE. A hen may feel anxious over one clutch of babies and pluck and may be fine the next time. She may single out just one chick and be fine with the rest. I would watch them and be aware but I would not cull. However if the hen was the kind to scalp a baby I would not breed with her again and she may well be culled in a more permanent way.
  24. Great news
