**KAZ** replied to Martini101's topic in New to BBC
Hi Martini and Rocky and welcome YES it is common for budgies to try and mate with peoples hands, heads, cage bars, drinkers etc etc....just feeling their hormones
  6. seems to be full colour on this greywing baby
  7. Fran, as the breeder of King D how are his gorgeous brothers doing for you ?
  8. My best hen Omelette always takes the down off her chicks, but leaves the pin feathers alone. I wouldnt move unless the signs werent good..........like if she started on the pin feathers. Here is the lacewing chick today......maybe some more replacement feather growth happening ?
  9. One or two of the top of the top show breeders here have culled too hard and now are struggling to get certain lines back. All it takes is some extra misfortune and you end up wishing certain birds had not gone. PS How many pigeons does HE have ?
  10. Close up clear photos of iris rings required please ?
  11. Who's looking after the babies ?
  12. The chick is yellowface opaline blue ? Colour looks grey in one photo and blue in another. a head patch can often appear on a spangle without it meaning split for recessive pied. In early spangle breeding dominant pied played a part of developing the spangle so a patch quite often shows on a spangle. But if the parent is recessive then it could mean that. This guy is opaline not normal wing pattern. Were all chicks from the same nest ? If so, where did the spangles come from as spangles only come if one parent IS a spangle. Are you colony breeding ?
  13. Shifted your photobucket pictures ? Broken links.....can you fix this ?
  14. You would retire her from breeding at age 4 years mostly. She may be addling the eggs........knocking them about when she gets in and out of the box..if so those eggs wont hatch. Some hens are only interested in the first couple of hatchings, then they tend to those babies and stop incubating the rest of the eggs resulting in the other chicks dying partway through. It may just be the way she is as a mother. Not the best if you are hoping for more than she can give you
  15. The hens in the aviary that this is happening to, are those hens in with other birds ? Because in colony style breeding other birds can stop a hen returning to her eggs.
  16. Use add reply. Dont use reply to the first post or any others. Add reply is under on the right hand side under posts between fast reply and new topic.
  17. I draw up meds through my syringes without the crop needle in place. its put on after. So the dose will be exact......yes ?
  18. There are a lot of reasons for dead in shell chicks in eggs. New Mums who dont keep them incubated, diseasdes that cause the growing chick to die, disturbances like cats or mice. Many things. Re the cats. I have four cats but mine are all in at night as I feel thats my responsibility as a cat owner to have them all brought in at dusk and it stops issues with neighbours and cat fights at night between ours and others as can happen. Any reason why your cats cannot be brought in at night ?
  19. Dont do a reply to your first post as it counts the images already in that post as part of the ten allowed. I deleted that part of this post you just did.
