  3. why would a greywing have grey cheekpatches Dave ?
  4. Omelette produced another three chicks too. They are in foster nests and another in the greywing nest
  5. expectant mother
  6. I doubt this other greywing hen will have the same depth of body colour as the other one seems to be two hens and one cock amongst these chicks
  7. no, you are confusing spangle markings with normals and greywings. Normal budgies have their wing markings mostly black, in a blue budgie the edges will be white and in a green budgie the edges will be yellow. In a greywing where thye most of the wing colour in a normal budgie is black a greywing will be grey...Not on the edges but in the other parts. Here the difference between spangle and normal normal on the left spangle on the right. With greywing replace the black of a normal with grey
  8. Yes they can be caged together but make sure there is no nestbox and no large food dishes that can be seen as nesting sites.
  9. Liv, the author of the Feather Duster article that we were allowed to use on here ......author Stephen Fowler.............I would strongly suggest you contact him about your guys and have a CHAT. You may have dialogue beneficial to you both and it may lead to an enhanced article.

  12. Cool Look forward to seeing them
  13. Both yellowface chicks...one on the left is younger and showing that yellow glow I mentioned above the cere
  14. I will look for a real photo for you
  15. Those babies arent yellowface I am afraid...just wanted to show the pin feather stage where you would see that yellow tinge...sorry
  16. Once they are at this stage you will see a pale yellowish tinge to the feathers just above the cere, in birds that are not green series.
  17. Here is the "blurb"on it............ Microscope has great optics with a rechargeable battery light source. The detachable ac power cord can be used to power the light or recharge the battery for portable use "in the field". Battery lasts for hours and can be recharged hundreds of times for years of valuable scientific research! The microscope can be used with the digital eyepiece connected to a computer via the usb port (windows compatible) or with the standard 10x eyepiece (included). Included software allows you to view live color images from the scope, save them, edit, add text, even email! Set includes: * real optical glass lenses * 10x widefield eyepiece with pointer * 3 achromatic objective lenses: 4x, 10x & 40x power * magnification from 40x to 400x * led illumination * 90mm x 90mm stage with clips * 6 hole disc diaphragm * coarse focus, easy grip knob * built in rechargeable battery & detachable ac power cord * sturdy all-metal construction * vinyl dust cover and instruction manual
  18. This topic is getting very exciting Dave. So different from your first lot of breeding way back when and over 6,000 views !!
  19. This little chick is feathering up to be skyviolet just like her father
  20. cere colour....hens cere will be a nutty brownish and she will be actively courting the male and allowing his advances. She will be looking at crevices and for possible nesting sites in an aviary check our faq section for how to candle an egg and the difference in colour of a fertile egg and a non fertile egg abandonment doesnt usually happen unless disturbed by other things. if eggs are left to go cold amidst incubation then the chick inside dies. No budgie incubates the first egg she lays and a lot of people panic when they dont see a female sit on her first egg.
  21. She cannot have held that egg for two weeks though
  22. Thats just great I would appreciate it very much :bliss: He is................sometimes
