My Aviary....start To Finish
The birds have tried out their first patch of rain in the open ended section of the aviary as it rained last night. Some fo them were enjoying getting wet this morning when I checked on them. Today is windy with some more rain. i am working ...leadlights so I wont be moving any more birds in today. The weekend will see all birds in the new flights that will be going in. Here's some photos and a couple of the "inmates" I like this boy......one of Omelettes babies....I had to handfeed him when he was forced to leave the nest too early as a baby Before........... and now

A Lot In The Mix..
You dont want to put opaline into your greywings, so use her for recessive pied breeding.

You must have missed this question ?Alder x Kobilanski mix, The Violet Pied hen is a Kobilanski bird and the cock is the son of my original Alder Aus Mutant II bird, he looks Green Normal but maybe he isn't really. When I grabbed the UBC on Sunday I thought it was a Normal Dark Green but then 2 separate people approached me and said SHE was a YF Aussie Mutant II. Your UBC is a Normal Dark Green no more no less. The two people who approached you and said she (?) was a YF Aussie Mutant II. Well I don't know who there are nor do I care cause quite frankly they don't know what they are talking about. Rubbish! As a UBC, Aussie YF's (even mutant 2) look to be yellow faced blue and it's not until they moult out that they show that strong yellow suffusion in their body colour. Your girl had not even come anywhere near breaking cap yet!!!! She is definitely a dark green NOT a YF blue. Just because a dark green shows some blue on rump and vent area DOES NOT meant it's a freaking YF. THIS is what happens when stupid judges put in stupid rules about a variety such as the Aussie yf having to be put into the NSV/NSC class. It goes completely pear shaped and people see Aussie YF lurking in every bloody variety!!!!!!! It's a damn YF why not just penalise it for heavy suffusion like every other state in Australia (Gina finishes her little rant!!!!!).Move over nubbs I am gonna join you in your rant. I agree will all you have said here. I agree with Nubbly too, and I dont understand why Renee is STILL SAYING she will wait and see after its first moult

Here is that picture of the dominant pied lacewing...I finally found it :raincloud:- My Flock
You have some very nice birds :raincloud: You are breeding in the aviary as well ?- A Ladder For My Aviaries
Sleep when you get home...Laverton sounds like a fun diversion :raincloud:- Best In Show...df Spangle And Ubc
Well, the UBC looks dark green to me and I have several babies like her right now in darkgreen.- Watermelon
Watermelon is safe. Its one of the fruits safer than others due to being less inclined to hold pesticide residues. I am under the impression its to be served without seeds but have no facts to back up whether or not the seeds are harmful to budgies.- Best In Show...df Spangle And Ubc

I am so looking forward to my "Splat budgies" arriving soon :raincloud:- Hot Days Are With Us Already!
and most trade newspapers, and ebay and secondhand shops sell those old style bonaire water coolers for almost nothing. Heck, people even throw them away or have them sitting doing nothing in the sheds.....I get them from roadside throwouts for free ....ask around..........get a couple and get them up and running.- My Spangle Line
Her markings dont look cinnamon Splat...they kinda look greyish :raincloud: Wonky leg or not, I'd love to see her in my aviary any day :raincloud:- Best In Show...df Spangle And Ubc

Yes, that is the plan although timewise I may not get to do it until xmas or so. We will see. If it needs it sooner it will be done. The higher roof and crossflow breezes help a lot with temperatures. Time will tell, but the plan is for shadecloth for summer.- Shade Meshing Aviary
I use a large plastic temperature guage in birdroom and flights...helps to know where we are at temperature wise. Locate it somewhere the birds wont chew at it.- A Ladder For My Aviaries
Great job I also did something similar for my other aviary.- Cordial
Whoi told you it helps with worms Renee. it doesnt.- Shade Meshing Aviary
Wonderful improvement....the birds will really feel the difference I am sure. Having that gap and the airflow helps keep it all cool too. We will have to do that over the new flights too. I like you idea of taking it out in front too like an awning. Hope Greg thinks its a good plan as well and lets you do it. The stirrup posts are a good idea mate- Cordial
Use the forum search function for raspberry cordial and you will find many topics on here all about it.- Cordial
I agree with Dean. Its about intestinal health not to do with breeding. - A Ladder For My Aviaries
