  1. There are no obvious tunnels from scalyface mites. I dont think the bird has scalyface. Kidney issues or vitamin A deficiency maybe causing the beak issue.
  2. I truly do NOT think it will acchieve what you are hoping it will. Your choice.
  3. You could afford to take more off than you have. If worried do a little at a time...nail clippers are fine for that. I have done it for other peoples birds I was helping with. Sandpaper is not a good move...its a fallacy that birds use sandaper for beak trimming and claws.
  4. You need to watch it for awhile and try and figure out the issue. I had one once that had a broken neck and it kept falling over or not able to stand...I euthenased it
  5. You said he kind of fell off the perch and kind of was leaning sideways ? I wonder if he is weak from an illness more than a broken or sprained leg ? As you said you manipulated the leg and he was fine with it. Has he a poopy bottom ? Is he thin ?
  6. You are doing all the right things and so it seems is the new Mum....all good.
  7. As the babies start to feather up the Mums spend more time out of the box so maybe its a little soon. BUT you may just be noticing when you are there and if she hears you and expects you to be looking she will get out of the box.

Since Liv is right here next to me AND we both agree with each other...... WE say its around 5 months old. I have concerns about the wool or string on this toy. Hanging material for birds.
  9. Liv has arrived..............Jetstar lost her baby booster seat she was bringing for the car  Thanks Jetstar
  10. If ever you need an escape plan I will rescue your birds for you till you settle somewhere.....you dont even have to ask...I will help. Meantime make a large transport box in case. Liv arrives in about 50 minutes
  11. Dunno about hens taking it out on chicks as I have yet to put meat protein into practice apart from the odd chicken carcass ....and I havent heard any stories from those that do. At this point pure guesswork.
  12. I am sure it is unorthodox .... but in hot weather I pop eggs that are due to hatch into my mouth, give them a good ole lick and pop them back ... Rather you than me ................transferring germs both ways I reckon. Better off spraying the mother or both parents with a misting spray.
  13. Your suite of rooms awaits at Kaz's chaos castle
  14. First chick to this pair tried to hatch during the really hot weather yesterday and only ended up opening part of his egg, I opened the egg this morning as he had begun to dry and wasnt moving much. I think he will die. He is out of energy after his unusual attempt at hatching on the hot day. He is all stiff and doesnt seem to be able to uncurl his neck from its position in the egg More eggs to hatch.
  15. Cockbird gone "bad" Macka He has been a cock for the whole year or more I have had him till this. Interestingly, since going into the new flights the cere has turned again either way I doubt I will ever get chicks from "him"
  16. Sure is AND has attitude and unrelated BUT Dave McMinns Gift chick sorry about bad photo...still learning to drive new camera
  17. WF Cinnamon Grey Cock// Just a clear shot of head and cheeks. He was a little bitey. YF Cin. Green Cock// He is a lovley boy. Why do you say WF and YF for these guys ............... YF Cin. Green Cock WF Cinnamon Grey Cock if you mean white face for the grey and yellowface for the green....that is normal for them to have white face and a yellow face. It can be confusing to say YF for the green as she isnt a yellowface at all.
  18. The beak is excessively long. Whether its from scalyface or a liver issue ( I dont really suspect scalyface for the length of beak ) ........it needs trimming back to correct length and shape.
  19. Looking way into the future but I reckon the above 2 would make a fantastic pairing for next year. She's got dark markings, great wings, shoulder, length and feather. He's got the top end, shoulder and feather. Both very nice. Good idea DARYL and he is pale where she is not. Does his paleness indicate that he may be dilute, rather than greywing? Don't think so...both parents are greywings. Three differing shades of blue in the nestbox. We shall see what comes of round two.
  20. Fantastic wedding. Stunning bride, handsome groom..............two very very happy and lucky people that they have found each other and share such love for each other. Congratulations Libby and Bobby
  21. Good to hear you can cope with summer heat. Seems like timing is all off again though
  22. answered here http://forums.budgiebreeders.asn.au/index....c=27514&hl=
  23. Seems you are still having problems......................and its summer. Why are you still expecting to breed and have results ?!
  24. Yes Dave, but I am still having some hits and misses as I learn to drive the new camera.
