  1. The female killed the ones in the nest to "clean out" the nest for her use. She decided that was THE NEST that was just right for her. Its what they do in colony breeding situations. You have learnt the hard way that colony breeding is the hardest way to breed budgies safely. She did what her instincts told her to do and it doesnt make her a "forever killer" .......................but NO you do not put her back in the aviary. Can we see photos of your set up so we can advise further ?
  2. I have never heard of puffed millet...do you have any more info on it ?
  3. Seems to be a male with hormonal issues, and sometimes may indicate testicular cancer. Try adding a few drops of iodine to its water for awhile and see if it helps.
  4. Female,,,,,,,,,,,out of breeding condition.....................opaline grey green greywing.
  5. You are right ......fluke that the dogs managed to worry the snake but keep out of striking range.......and I look at small gaps under doors etc and realise how easily things like snakes can get in too
  6. I would suggest it is no more than 10 weeks of age based on head bars...maybe even less than 10 weeks.
  7. Stinking hot day today Dave's baby budgie decided the best place to stay cool was in the seed dish
  8. No new format Nubbly.....top right of page is a box called OPTIONS....click on it and set it to Standard
  9. What are his chances ? Your vet is the best one to know having seen him. Question .....how did this happen ? Who didnt think ahead to the budgies safety and welfare ?
  10. Yes, it was definitely a dugite....around 4-5 feet long. You should have heard Ken scream when the snake reared up Due to it being curled up in the tarp, the handler caught it easily. He just reached in and grabbed it behind its head and lifted it out.
  11. Snake has been removed for release back into the bush.
  12. Ken went to see why our dogs were getting excited down the backyard behind the aviaries...they usually do that over a mouse or rat. Imagine his shock, when a snake came out between both our dogs and aggressively reared up and struck out at Ken. Seems to be a Dugite snake. We have locked up the dogs and are trying to get someone to come and get the snake. **** A man is coming to remove the snake. Its currently curled up in a blue tarpaulin at the back of our bird aviaries
  13. gold ringers are 06 birds.
  14. I disagree with any thought that suggests this is a grey green budgie. Cinnamon YES, Yellowface YES and likely mauve or grey.....I would say mauve by the colouring she is. Also you ask Its mainly because of the white on the cere....that indicates female even if the white has some blue with it too NO NO I would say so.
  15. They are gorgeous Deb ............really lovely

  18. Thank you so much Catherine. I've been using an avian vet from Brisbane's southside who is just wonderful, even calling me at home for updates. I do believe she cares about my budgie as much as I do which is saying a lot. Ash is chatting next to me at the moment and I just heard him say my name clear as day! Finally - after four long years of training!!! Great news
