Is Epoxy Gloss Enamel Safe For Cage?
Personally I dont believe in painting cages...for all the effort you have to go to you are far better off selling it and putting it and the money you would have used buying paint to a better cage. The only way to safely recoat a cage is by having it powder coated.....to powdercoat a cage it cant have rust. The very nature of birds, ...budgies and parrots, and the way they use a cage will always remove paint from the cage.....beaking the bars as they climb about, and gripping with claws etc. I wouldnt do it...my opinion only.

Ivermectin - Where To Buy?
Ivermectin is available from any good bird vet. You wont find it over the counter unless you are prepared to buy a large and expensive cattle pour on kind from a stockfeed supplier. Most budgie clubs sell it from their products tables and most show budgie breeders keep it on hand. Scatt ( available on the internet ) is not available in Australia.

Blind Budgie Help
Single cage no aviary....in a cage they can find their water and food. In an aviary they become disorientated and fly into walls and spin in circles. I have had blind birds.

What Does A Sky Violet Look Like?
I dont use that alone as a sign GB...........it was an additional sign in some cases....to post these birds I took it all out of an old topic. ..........the sign of sky violet to me is the two shades I see on the body. Hard to describe but I do know exactly when I have a sky violet over a cobalt

What Does A Sky Violet Look Like?
I am hoping that by posting some pictures for you I can show the difference between violets and sky violets and cobalts. Sometimes blues dont show well on our monitors, so I hope they show a difference here. Very often a budgie seen to be cobalt, may actually be a sky violet but to an untrained eye the average person not experienced in sky violets sees only a cobalt budgie. The difference is is a violet hue around the neck and shoulder area and also the intensity of body colour surpasses the average cobalt. If you can imagine a skyblue budgie with a wash of violet colour over top of the skyblue, then you can almost acchieve in your minds eye the colour you would see if looking at a sky violet. In a sky violet budgie you will see a blend or a coming together of two colours...there is depth to the feather colour and an intensity not evident on a cobalt. Here is a violet budgie (quite purple looking ) Here is a sky violet budgie ( shows a purple flash up around the neck/shoulder area and two shades of blues on body feathering ) and another sky violet ( with YF and dom pied ) ( purple flash near shoulder area and two shades of blues on body feathering ) This YF opaline sky violet hen also show a small area of violet around the neck/shoulder area and two shades of blues on body feathering and here is two cobalt budgies.......note the one solid blue colour.

The Vet Failed To Notice That My Young Budgie Was Ill
I am real sorry about your loss. It sounds like the vet was a general vet and not an avian vet. An avian vet would have done tests while you were there, at least a poop sample and look at it under a microscope, and a blood test...this is normal practice for avian vets and the tests only add another $20 to the vet bill. AND you would have gone home with meds appropriate to the illness. Find an AVIAN vet and dont use a general vet for birds....these are the lessons many of us have learnt. General vets dont know enough and arent worth paying. and the vet you saw sucked........attitude like that wont keep business coming in his doors for long. PS one thing you can believe in is your intuition about something being wrong....you were spot on and the vet let you down.

What Does A Sky Violet Look Like?
This fella is a sky violet sky violets can be mistaken for cobalts. If you take a close look at a bird like this one you can see two blue layers of colour. If you imagine a skyblue birds with a sheer covering of purple it creates the colour we see called sky violet. A cobalt is more even blue. A sky violet looks to be two shades of colour on the one bird.
