Boys usually get a better reception from each other in the buddies stakes as compared to saying hi to a female. Female budgies are famous for pecking at a male trying to say hello or share perch space
  8. Best of luck. Hope all goes well. One of my birds once looked like he had lost an eye in an injury....when all cleared up he still had his eyeball...it had just retracted some due to the trauma.
  9. One rule to go by................any white on a cere is female in youngsters. Purple pink is male.
  10. I will be following her progress. She is a beautiful thing
  11. Wow I had never noticed before you posted this that most car names DO end in A Truly eye opening
  12. As long as she is in breeding mode ( egglaying ) and chicks are still either in the nest or coming and going....................it leaves it wide open for her to get nasty and attack her chicks to remove them from her new nest. Can happen and does fairly often. I think it best the nestbox is removed. Icecream tub upturned on the bottom of the cage...........with seed in it as bedding will work out for the remaining chicks.
  13. Terrific advice and information. Great to hear about working out the preferences from the individual dishes of seed Thankyou
  14. It will be a long day. Hope you can handle that I will enjoy your company.
  15. Assuming the birds I wish to take dont lose any tail feathers at the wrong time, I will be showing. Taking the hearse. Have you a babysitter ?
  16. Yes you can go with me if you like
  17. any egg you remove, she will replace. With the youngest chick aged 3 and a half weeks, ( only some days away from most chicks fledging age ) i would remove the nestbox. Put all chicks in a box on the breeding cage floor and if dad is a good feeder put the hen in a seperate cage out of earshot of the dad so she can rest up and stop her egglaying cycle. She will lay maybe another one or two off the perch but she will stop.
  18. I am deeply disappointed as various accusations from Renee trying to say a few times now that I was off after her culls to the petshop. I havent bought petshop culls for a very very long time now, I would say around 2 years. I dont have to. I most certainly am not going after Renees petshop culls and despite what has been said I still dont know where she sells them nor do I care. Nor would I chase off after them to buy them at petshop prices. I havent even bought any of Renee's at auctions. I do not like being accused of things I have not done, or the inference made that I may have done something I would not have done. I just want it on record that I am NOT the person she seems to be inferring who goes and buys her petshop culls, and therein lies my great disappointment in the direction she has taken in this whole topic. 19. Agreed.

  21. Throw the eggs away to avoid round three , dont risk the lives of the young for that. I always put all young back in the box at night , reason the older chicks feed the younger ones in the nest , if their on the floor the young ones wont get much from dad . You will need to supplement feed . I agree with Matt.
  22. I agree with Maesie..........and have to say Great cage !!!!!!
  23. I look at wet nest as a serious issue , you need to look closely at what you are or arent feeding the parents . They will need minerals , the chicks have loose droppings because the parents are drinking excessively , check your drinker and see how much they are drinking in a day . Also keep an eye on the parents for condition. I have to agree with Matt.
