I changed the end of the flights. Have put natural branches in instead of the dowel perching arrangement. More for foot exercise than anything. Today was very hot. Each flght had a water filled air cooler going all day. The birds were comfortable enough to be chattering all day and not silent like they are when overheated. Bought one air cooler from the recycle section of the rubbish tip for $10 and ken found the other one thrown out on bulk refuse throwout earlier today.

I don't think she is cinnamon, she's doesn't have the brown quill, her wings are almost void of any spangle markings. If this hen has laid eggs only last winter would she still be to old to breed? One of the hens are randomly laying eggs on the aviary floor and i think it is her. It would be a shame if i couldn't use her, she is such a nice hen. I suppose thems the breaks. Lib Generally you retire them at 4 years due to higher incidence of eggbinding or prolapse. if you are going to chance it you would have to weight up the possible vet costs or possible death of the bird.

I think this is the main thing, but also to do with the rspca people etc who see our birds in cages with no seed and water all day at shows. I think a budgerigar breeder mix with no oats or sunflower ..........I could be wrong
