To his credit, the young man who is taking BUDDY has researched his new pup on the internet for months before choosing the breed he wanted, and he has cared for a virtual pet on his nintendo dsi and he has worked out a schedule for caring for, walking, and training his new pup. Sadly a friend of his who was to be getting his new retriever pup wont anymore as the pup died after its vaccination and now our young man is worried about the safety of BUDDY as his vaccination is due for next Tuesday

Puppies are five weeks old. Vaccinations next week. A lot of soon to be new owners have been visiting and taking photos of their chosen pup. Here is a lovely young man all excited to be getting his new puppy as soon as BUDDY is old enough to leave home.

Most likely. How about posting photos as Jet is NOW so we can see what you see. No flash to be used taking these photos.

I bird cannot preen with a diaper on them as they cannot access their preening gland. You would have to be an idiot to use a bird diaper or so obsessive about cleaning that a small budgie dropping bothers them. A diaper would not be a good thing for a bird...it would drive them crazy as well and make a mess inside the diaper as Brucies Mum says

Jet is a recessive pied. If female the cere would have had a good bit of white on it up till now and at this age should have gone brownish if female. If its cere has always been pink and is still pink with no white its a boy.

Thanks I am glad I joined this forum ... It's very helpful. Sorry I am working hard today so havent a lot of time for long answers.........BUT we have heaps on here already if you look in the faq section and also use the search function. I will do more answers when I have more time.

A search of the system has found that 1259 BBC members are breeders.....that may not be current members but is the total of members who have stated they are breeders

Not ruling anything out but it would be great to see pictures of the parents which hasnt happened yet Its all educational for any of us learning genetics

Clicking sound is not normal for breathing. I suggest a warm lamp by the cage and vet tomorrow.

The eyes situation could be the result of vomiting which usually ends up in that area making the feathering look weird. Vomiting is a sign of illness and not to be confused with regurgitation which is very different. Can you post a picture and is there any other symptoms as well ?

I dont know if this helps or not........ BUT in my breeder cages I use a thick wad of newspaper to line the bottom of the cage and each day remove the top layer or two, and I do the main clean on the weekend. All depends on what you are lining the cage floor with I suppose.

Are you sure Jet is female ? As a recessive pied the cere on a male recessive is pink. Do you have any other photos of Jet ?
