  1. Was that an AVIAN vet because it doesnt sound like it. Sounds like you got a general vet and one who didnt try very hard to work out the issue. My vet would take poo sample and check immediately under microscope and also bloods. I think when we get a general vet who isnt up to par on birds we should refuse to pay and they rarely get anything birdlike right. I am sorry.........but I think your vet wasnt very thorough at all :happy-dancing:
  2. Tea bags and tea also works.
  3. You seem to have diagnosed a nerve or ligament condition. Its possible she is partly splay legged and that wont fix itself.
  4. Budgies in the aviary enjoying some natural grass.

  8. Is this the plum eyed one in the front? I can almost believe I can see a difference, but I think I must be imagining it. Also, looking at the cere shot in the prior post, is it a hen? Seems to be a hen :party0011: There is activity on the aviary ( but I think this pair is brother and sister :happy-dancing: I will have to check )
  9. If the tail is navy blue he is olive. If the tail is black it is grey green. Looks olive from here.
  10. Forget what you have heard about "rings around nares" ............................... all you need to remember is any white on a budgies cere makes it female and a bright pinky purple cere on a young budgie makes it male. :happy-dancing:
  11. Doing very well :party0011:
  12. You need proper budgie legring cutters...nothing else. You cut one side and then the other and let the ring fall away. Where do you get them?? Any good bird supply store. Most budgie clubs products tables.
  13. I do know one thing Hans...........you cant get DF melanistic spangles unless both parents are melanistic spangles so the ones you think are DF melanistics would be ordinary df spangles with SUFFUSION click here for melanistic spangles article http://forums.budgiebreeders.asn.au/index....nistic+spangles
  14. You may find some from this nest surprises you though mate.............its meant to be.
  15. Your birds are lovely. For some reason ever since you posted this........your first post the system keeps identifying this post as spam and keeps making it invisible. Maybe you used some coding in typing up your post.
  16. GB....8 fertile eggs out of 8 gosh I wish that others would breed like these two, , he is fertile like his dad and the hen lays eggs like his mum Terrific news !!
  17. This nail issue can also be attributed to scalyface mites which also affect the feet.
  18. I know I have bought a couple of birds a short while ago from a top breeder...........one died within the week and the other, a cock feints in your hands when handled and breathes with crackly breathing. These were locally bought birds not interstate. I doubt I will ever get anything from him and if I did would it carry a genetic issue ? Surely this was known when it was put up for auction ? There was a time when quality birds were offered at auctions but lately it seems certain breeders are offering the dregs. I know it makes me think twice about buying from certain other breeders now too. We had a code of eithics spoken of when I first joined clubs here.........a code of ethics about selling birds. If the birds sold had issues the breeder would back up the sale and replace the bird. This sadly doesnt happen anymore but in a small minority of cases. I was recently tackled on the fact I was buying from interstate.....copped some smartass whinging from an upper level breeder here who complained I sought birds interstate when there were good ones here. The very same breeder who tried selling me hens who scalped chicks and cocks who were split cinnamon and opaline when I needed normals for greywing breeding. The same breeder had over 500 birds he said he had trouble selling his culls from and that doors were being closed to auctions interstate. Doors will be closed to selling at interstate auctions if you keep sending cr*p.
  19. The plum eyed chick ( guess the plum eyes dont show well in these photos ) others in that nestbox we have seems to be two dilutes and one greywing
  20. I wouldnt. These perches are responsible for many a foot injury, bumblefoot etc in budgies. Not necessary at all.
