I think there is some fallows up for sale at the Pine Rivers Auction this weekend too
  2. You cant give it straight from the beach as they can have all kinds of stuff attached to it. Have you ever smelt it fresh from the beach ? Most of the time it stinks like something rotten has died on top of it.
  3. Very sad :rip: They are quite beautiful in a weird way.
  4. Video was really too bad light conditions to see properly, but besides that I do know what you are talking about. My first thoughts were canker or possibly megabacteria. Ecoli bacterial infection also shows sometimes in greenish dribble coming up and down the front of the chest. This can happen if bugs have got into food or water containers. Good luck at the vets. For now put a warm lamp by the cage.
  5. GB you dont release your hold on the bird until there are no signs of life. Dont just time it as in a certain amount of seconds. Every bird is different.

Excellent Wish you all the best with these pairings ........................
  7. He hasnt got your cold but he does need to go to an avian vet urgently or you may lose him. ASAP.
  8. She is nice and she has a great temperament too.........from Omelettes line ( grand daughter )
  9. The skyblue greywing dominant pied shares the nest with yet another foster so seemingly gets less food than this big hen
  10. The hen gave up on incubating the second round so they were put back in the aviary. The hen has spent the past week breaking back into the breeding room from the aviary Anyway, one of her abandoned eggs hatched in another nest.....a foster nest. Chick is a very pretty skyblue greywing dominant pied.
  11. Messy bum also indicates not eating enough.
  12. Attacked hen is doing better. She can find her way onto a perch. Her head injuries have scabbed over and the scab is about to fall off. Whether or not she will be able to regrow feathers on her head we will have to wait and see.
  13. or better still......................... come here to............................. MYTH BUSTERS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  14. Splat is right.
  15. If this was true then why wouldnt a hen reject her own chick because it was an only ino chick in the nest, too ?? Just as in normal society there is all levels of intelligence in a budgie club. Perpetuating old wives tales is still happeneing all over
  16. So this one is the plum-eyed baby, right? And she is both dilute and cinnamon? It seems like the dilute must mask any effect of the cinnamon. So if you hadn't noticed her plum eyes when she hatched, no one would suspect she was cinnamon, would they? I guess that's good to know for when you breed her, so you can track where she sends the cinnamon gene. She isnt cinnamon as far as I can tell, but I will get someone to look at the bird as it grows.
  17. Cut feathers drop out and are replaced. Read member Livs account of her feather dusters and you will find they moulted like any other budgie. There are some who have said a feather duster doesnt moult, but it isnt true. Thanks Kaz, I have read it this afternoon What I meant , though I did get the answer, is when you clip the birds do their feathers grow back straight away, or only when they moult. I heard someone say if you clip their feathers they just grow back instantly and kill the bird with the effort and stress.I thought I answered this..........above....cut feathers drop out....nothing does instantly...but a cut feather dies and is replaced.....sooner than a moult. That is very sad Splat. Do you have any new photos of it ?
  18. I agree. Female
  19. You certainly have them entranced BIRD LADY
  20. The sole surviving chick from this pair ( due to cold eggs and fostering cold eggs out......an opaline grey hen chick ...is coming out really nice, I think. four fertile eggs to that pair this time and due to hatch the first anyday now and the greywing dilute nest chicks are doing well Chick #1 Chick #2 Chick # 3 Chick # 4

  22. How many cabinets will you be running Dave ? At this stage there are 9 breeding cabinets, but I am hoping to get about 6 more, so 15 all up. It is about not overdoing it, plus ensuring there is room to put other things in there. You will need the extra 6 going as soon as you can so you have backups for fostering etc if need be. By The Way you can get solar lights for sheds at bunnings for around $20
