  1. I like the name BEAR
  2. Check gumtree perth as they often have lost and found birds on there. Also quokka online as well. What area was the bird lost from ?
  3. Three out now from the greywing nestbox and one left in the box. First two and third with dad
  4. Both look like hens
  5. Real parents of this baby ( still in nest ) .....had four eggs in second round. First chick hatched with yellowbelly and died almost straight away. Then I saw a dead in shell egg so tossed that. Two eggs to go.

  9. Isnt it funny how topics sometimes gain a whole life of their own ?? :yuck:
  10. Had to move the greywing dommie pied out of the nest with the large grey hen chick as the larger chick is getting most of the food. so the dommie pied greywing went into the nestbox with two other dommie pieds in it
  11. Two chicks from the greywing to dilute nest are out of the nestbox today...both cocks. Two still in the box
  12. Also check her over carefully for signs of feather mites which if she has them might make her chew.

Your new birds are lovely....congratulations on getting them. Good luck for the future with them too. Good for you going for one of the rarer breeds as well.
  15. ///////////////////It certainly does Jack, many people i know determine the sex of young budgerigars using this method including myself. Here is an example of why the "rings around the nostrils" method is not true:He got named 'Ariel', because of the nostril rings, and I didn't know better. But he is definitely a boy! He's very bonded with a hen, and he's over a year old now, and has never had a brown cere, or any change in his cere at all. You can't just look at the nostrils, you have to consider the over all color of the whole cere. Thankyou very much Finnie !! ............I have been trying to show this exact thing for so long. Everyone seems to use the phrase nostril rings to explain sexing, but it IS an overall white that you must see to say its a female not nostril rings. Nostril rings is the wrong way to go

I agree. Its the first thing people tell you to buy and put in a cage. In my view it affects the mental stability of a bird. It gives themk something to feed and protect and I think thats a bad thing.
  17. I think you need to watch her for awhile. The wing looks like she is chewing it and so does the tail.
  18. Best of luck Amy. Cant wait to see pictures
  19. Really good news that you went to the vet, and even better that the vet seems to be someone you can have faith in. Great job staying for the autopsy. A learning experience. Hope you birds thrive under the ongoing care and meds. Fingers crossed for them all.
  20. Females would have an overall white look to the cere not just nostrils.... I keep hearing this white rings around nostrils stuff, but if you look at a young female near on all the cere is whitish not just nostrils. In these photos the cere looks purplish pink. Is this a clear representation of the colours of the cere Ritchie ?
  21. The chicks will be skyblue spangles not split for spangle as you cannot have a bird split for spangle. It is a dominant gene.
  22. Same as mine from where RachelM said :rip:
  23. I bought some from there recently. They were a very good price mine had two side doors, three front doors
  24. How expensive is she :rip:
