  1. Hi Judy. The picture is WAY to small. We are allowed pictures of the size 480 by 640 on here. It will help if you post better pictures. Also aging him would be hard as he seems to be recessive pied.....hence no iris rings to go off.
  2. nearly there, girl
  3. I will put her in the aviary tomorrow and see how she manages.
  4. I totally agree with you there Splat, and thats exactly the same argument I had with the vet when we had pups and Maggie needed extra feeding up
  5. Karen as you know I didnt think that Pied cock you purchased was going to sell. I got frustrated. In the end I should have just shut up and bought him myself! I hope he goes well for you. It was quite odd , wasnt it ? Some birds got passed in first time around that shouldnt have too. I also got a nice pied off Jan McMahon due to a pre arrangement
  6. My dogs have always had raw eggs......they eat budgie clear eggs with shell and every dog I have ever owned including when I bred dobermans In Tassie all had raw eggs. Raw egg with milk or milk substitute and cod liver oil served as a eggflip. No side affects............and great for their coat.

    Congratulations on your first chick
  8. NO....but if it helps she likes to gently nibble and preen my fingers ..........she's really soppy
  9. it doesnt have to show he is split blue because all of them will be split blue anyway. Yes I know that, but I find some of my green birds that are split blue show blue feathers around vent/rump/ lower chest area. Or even bleeding in the wings. Well, in this case you could be right mate I was told on the weekend that its one of those cases where it does say its split blue. I was also told when it looks like that it wont moult out or change with a moult and makes the birds unshowable too. I am not worried about showing it as its a spangle greywing and just breeding stock
  10. I dont necessarily think caging them now will alter whats going on with her, However I do have concerns with any bird uncaged and not supervised while you are at work. Too many things can go wrong in a home with a free flight bird who isnt being watched. A really decent sized flight cage would still be a good environment for them while you are at work, and keep them safe.
  11. Have a few chicks in nestboxes, out of nestboxes, in kindie cage, out in the aviary and new ones hatching every day as well. Have had a few issues as a lot are first time Mums. Two in a nest have all their down plucked off. I euthanased a chick with severe leg issues Had two eggs in one nest each with twins in that died at a later stage. Egg #1 Egg #2 and have a very good new Mum in one nest ( she is Omelettes daughter ) 5 chicks and another to hatch. This is another good Mum
  12. Google maps allows you to track a point A to point B journey by either car or public transport. You punch in your start point and your destination and choose method of travel. Then print off the results.
  13. SW.........if you review and look at your answer to GB previously you were very demeaning to her yourself. I feel sure she is reacting to the way you put her down previously. I wont remove the last post of GBs as you have already had your say and it was very much along the same lines. Condescending. No attempt to find out what she was meaning to say. Judgemental about what someone can afford or not. Payment plans.......rare as rocking horse doo doo. What planet do you live on ?? perception.......always about perception and if you are on the receiving end or the other. SW, please dont drag up forum rules to support your cases when you have done similar things in this thread. I am closing this thread now and GB can repost any updates on her bird if she feels so inclined.
  14. In my honest opinion ......I wouldnt add any new birds right now. Reasoning is you will be adding stress to an already stress situation. Adding any new bird anyway involves quarantine in another cage in another room in another airspace for a minimum of thirty days because of possible introduced disease. All birds when under various stresses can bring out hidden illnesses. Now is not time to be adding that possibility to the mix. New relationships are stressful as well. Even though your female is acting sexual is no real reason to buy her a boyfriend. No.....we dont all blindly trust vets or doctors....in that you are right. BUT based on what your vet is advising you in this case and our experience of birds, and what you have said..............I would not add another bird right now and especially not a male. This in my opinion is not the solution to your problem. Breeding is stress conditions.......this can cause a death of the hen. Just because she is doing mating behaviour does NOT mean she will mate with the male either. Many a hen thinks she can do all this on her own. Many a hen will lay eggs without even mating the male. If you are thinking that the purchase price of a male for her is cheaper than the costs of the hormone injections..........yes thats true. But your hopes of adding a new male and it solving everything may well be misguided. Have you tried other things like reducing her sunlight hours ?
  15. You also need to be able to block it off for winter Block off the whirley bird? Why? It allows fresh air in, but does not provide a draught Wind Dave
  16. More photos required buddy
  17. The vet is right. Why do you think buying in more birds will help her ?
  18. I am going but I will be visiting friends and going with them so I dont know the answers to your questions....sorry :rip:
  19. Was due in around 4-5 days from memory.
  20. Did you see a real avian vet not a normal vet ? It sounds odd what you have been told thats all. NO dont go buying extra budgies right now while you have a sick one. That wont solve anything. What exactly are her symptoms ?
  21. I will do some measurements for you. I wouldnt change anything about this cage. It works so well.....better than any other I have used. Its in use right now and is very good. I dont use a thermometer at all. Birds dont get dehydrated because the front of the cage is a cage front allowing air in.
  22. How is your double yolker going ? I had two in one nest actually....they just died in shell. They were the only two fertile eggs in that nest. She now has three foster eggs. Here's the photos First egg........( note one chick died sooner than the other ) Second egg from same nest note in the second egg there is one plum eyed baby and one dark eyed baby.
