You can bathe it with the warm water from a teabag. If you have any CHLORSIG ointment you can use that. Chlorsig is used for people, dogs, cats and birds. Its surprising how many people have some already at home.

Candling the eggs means you know if the eggs are fertile or not and you dont have a hen sitting on dud eggs. A good plan if you want to breed budgies........learn to candle eggs. Never put a thin hen down to breed. Know a lot more about the birds you put down to breed before you do.

Ailing..SICK......................look for signs she is thin or poopy bottom. What colour is her cere ? Would she sit on unfertile eggs ? Yes she would ....they arent all that smart to know if they are fertile or not. Have you candled the eggs ?? ......what do you see ?? How about some photos ??? We can help you more opnce we can see with our eyes whats going on.

I fostered a newly hatched baby into a nest with chicks due any day and its being fed. If you were to put it in with the nest of 7 then they are used to feed a different n formula and the baby may not get crop milk or what it needs. I'd put it in the nest with eggs nearly due to hatch BUT feed it first yourself.

We have our suspicions who the father is but most likely will not know unless results from the chicks point us in a certain direction We had some quail eggs hatch but of three babies only one made it. Currently about two inches tall and running round the aviary floor.

the first one at 600 deep isnt very good or useful as its too narrow in the depth. As you have been told by many many people Squeak. You have a TEXAS CLEARBODY baby. and since its a baby and in baby feather it looks different to what YOU are expecting to see as in your mind most likely you are imagining an adult TCB. You dont seem to want to believe what so many experienced people have told you. Candling eggs is shining the torch into the nest over each each......behind the egg pointing back to where you can see ( no need to remove or handle the eggs ) you will see red veins in newly fertile eggs and in ones due to hatch soon you will see two thirds to three quarters of the egg looking dar with the rest as an empty area. No need to candle the eggs now as they are soon to hatch and you said they are white anyway

Draughts as well not good Spare bit of wood with some wood glue on it and stick it over the hole

Hi, I just moved your post into a topic of its own instead of where you added it to another persons topic. Incubation is generally 18-21 days from the time the hen decided to continuously sit and keep them warm. So you still have time. Have you shone a torch light on the eggs to see if they are fertile ? If not......have they changed colour at all. Unfertile eggs will look peachy pink and fertile eggs go a solid white. Egg that have had a baby die inside will have dark staining to the white eggshell. Not all hens......in fact most hens dont know if their eggs are fertile or not and even throw out perfectly good eggs with babies in them. Hens also rotate eggs in and under them and out again and back in and under to regulate temperature. When you see one out.............doesnt mean it wont be back under her again next time you look. Try not to touch the eggs if you can help it. PS welcome

We have a spare hen.........a yellow Princess she was exhibiting nesting behaviour and since the other males were occupied with their partners she was a spare hen. We saw her laying eggs on the floor of the aviary. My husband put her in a spare nestbox where she proceeded to lay and sit on eggs. We thought she was going it all alone and my husband even thought of selling her. We just got her nestbox down off the wall to maybe throw out her non fertile eggs so she wasnt sitting for nothing. But I decided to candle them in case. Out of four eggs she has two fertile eggs.......surprise, surprise So that means one of the boys has mated with her as well as his own hen. More chicks expected now that werent expected before this.

How about you update the photos Squeak As one of the photos you posted earlier shows a greyish flight. Since you did the thick black rings around those photos it now cant be seen easily, but left wing flight showed a grey flight not white. Newer photos will help No need. Tail colour is obvious as we can see in this photo

Four of our baby Princesses ( Smokeys babies ) have gone to be handraised by an experienced person in handraising. She wants to keep a couple and onsell the others. We have currently three babies in one nest Velchro ( our tame boy ) and his hen Blu-tac have four babies including a red eyed chick ( likely to be white ) and theres another five babies in another nest we have four baby canaries at fledging point one just fledged and another five baby canaries growing on. we also have a baby quail.
