I agree with Bea a very pretty one to say the least. Looks like a Yellowface Type 2 Mauve not sure recessive or double factor dominant?

    awe how sweet...
  3. Your right Bea , I have read that but I think it is better then leaving them alone. Your suggest is perfect way to get them outside.
  4. they are very pretty

or he is in an hormonal stage? Plus being in your own cage and not with the fun all the time can be frustrating .

good to hear that the suggestion is working out Norm.
  9. right I knew what you mean but thank you for clarifying
  10. that is an interesting point Norm, I didn't realize that they couldn't fly because of their feather condition.
  11. That is wonderful....I just worry especially since they can get that little bit of lift and decide to try out their wings more then you expect. Glad she is a awesome companion.
  12. I stick with my first decision...his wings look brown but I think that is the flash because his flights look gray. What a cutie
  13. As others have said never keep your birds unattended for any period of time it is too dangerous. Birds should not be in direct sun light so even having them next to the window with the screen is a great way for them to get fresh air.
  14. I agree with Norm You are very brave to have her outside without an enclosure I would be careful even a baby can get enough flight to take off , again she is beautiful
  15. how sweet and that last picture of Teddy is super cute I love fluffy cheeks

he is doing great. I heard hi sweetie very clearly, his wolf whistles, kissy noises.... Merlin was talking back to him They say that when they say the phrase garbled continue to say it clear to them at that time and they will clear up even better. That is excellent he is doing great. Merlin is saying hi baby, pretty baby and he is getting clearer but only myself and my daughter can hear it right now. My husband swears he doesn't hear it (Laughing out loud). Pretty talked clear too I have a video of him on the site talking somewhere (Laughing out loud).

Welcome to our forum , it is nice to have you here.
  18. I purchased Pretty at I think he was about 3 months old from the pet store and it took a while for him to really come around because was wild. Having him as the ONLY budgie helped with his taming. Getting 2 is not wise at this age especially if they have not been tamed down at all. Merlin on the other hand was raised with hands and I got him around 7-8 old and I could see the difference. I think if Merlin would have been my first budgie vs the companion to Pretty I would have seen a signficant difference in taming. Merlin also though is of the show variety and has a different disposition as in being calmer, Pretty was very flighty (Laughing out loud). Now that Pretty has passed Merlin has just me now and he has become very tame simply on his own because he always trusted humans before in his younger days. Not that he wasn't tame with Pretty around but he was Pretty's side kick and didn't want anything to do with me. Now he flies to me, sits on my hand, he is starting to talk, and he always flies or come running to the cage bars. I had that with Pretty too but then I got Merlin so that took everything away. There are some budgies such as Bea's Blinks that is extremely tame but she also hand raised him herself from the nest because she does have an aviary of budgies. It is going to be difficult to find hand reared budgies people just don't put the time into it like Kaz on our message boards (to bad she lives so far away) but if you continue searching you will be surprised that you may find a very low end breeder that takes the time or possible look into the "english" show variety where their dispositions tend to be calmer but you may have to pay extra for this type and/or getting a hand reared one.
