Any Pin Cushions Out There?
it is when they are molting new feathers, the new feather is grown in but the shealth (protective covering) has not yet come off yet, that is why they are itchier and rub their heads on the cage bars and preen each other more if they have a friend to get it off. All budgies get this show and pet types

maybe she wants to for herself that is why she is saying that...they all look male to me I remember Merlin in the in between stage from the pink to the light blue to the dark blue and that is what the back one looks like to me but...the cere looks a little flatter which could indicate female. The one in the front really looks male. Here is Merlin when he was younger and during the transition state you can see the white nasal rings- Any Pin Cushions Out There?

yes they do from what I understand, in fact if your budgies are calling it may be another budgie out there? did you see what type of bird they are calling, if it is another budgie you probably should try and catch it .- Well Trained Budgies!
Wow what a risk and I suppose an expection to the rule because if you are a new to budgies please don't risk this because no matter how tame a budgie is partially clipped, full clipped or not clipped it is never a good idea to have them outside not in a cage. 99.9% of budgies will fly off never to be seen again.- Photos Of Lots Of Water
beauitful pictures and your daughter is so pretty :hap:- My Dogs
The US can't seem to get with the times or the AKC so to speak there are many advocates I know now it is optional to crop in the show ring, I would never crop, I can't even declaw which is pure amputation of the toes on a cat :hap:.- Any Pin Cushions Out There?
Oh yes is he molting , that is why I posted a cute pics of his spikes, your birds are cute. He is beautiful looks great thank you- Breeding Budgie's?
Lumina and George the two light greens All your babies will be light green and if both birds are carrying the blue gene then you have a chance of blue babies but if not you will have 100% light greens just like theh parents. There are always recessive genes & sex linked genes that can be hidden by the parents and those may come out in this time around maybe not. Bailey my YF skyblue opaline with a blue spangle 50% spangles 50% normal pattern birds 50% Yellow Face Birds (but that is a guess because the white face could be a double factor YF 1 - we don't know) hens will be opalines so you can have a mixture of opalines, opaline spangles, spangles, normals all babies will be blue because blue is a recessive trait you can never get green birds from blue birds- I'm New!
Welcome to the forums. It is suggested above that budgies & other species of birds should not mix and that is very true and even more true when breeding. Before you start breeding I would suggest thinking about closed breeding options vs colony breeding (where many things can go wrong). Here are some articles from our site to read and you can ask questions anytime. Points to Consider Before Breedings Colony Breeding Vs Closed Breeding Care of Budgies in the Nest Breeding should always be researched throughly & taken into serious consideration because many people think it is easy to breed...it is easy to produce eggs & even check it is difficult to produce GOOD healthy quality chicks which is what every breeder (novice or advance) should strive for along with that good home for any of the babies that are not going to be kept.- Hand Raised Vs Parent Raised? Any Ideas?
I can't say it any better then this article on our site Bird will Be Bird but only if you let them (CLICK TO READ)- Any Pin Cushions Out There?
Add your picture if you want...Merlin looks like a spikey man :hap: check him out... Inspite of the new look he is always handsome...- My Dogs
WOW that is incredible, and I read that the kelpies they think came more from the dingo line? His poor little ears and tails where cropped and docked when I got him :hap:, they are cute without it.- Human Cereals
Just agreeing yes cereal, pasta, breads are bad they are also very high in salt content.- That Type Of Budgie Is That?
it is hard to tell without seeng the back it could be a dilute or greywing too as the body feathers are light :hap:- Need Help With Sexing
they all look like males to me for others looking at the picture double click on them and they will enlarge- Sexing The Newbie
Completel agree, and she is very pretty.- Which Ones Should I Keep?
If you want to produce more opalines I would say keep the males as you have a chance for more opaline babies but I also believe that keeping good normals are important to breed back too. Daz would know more about this, if you give him a quick PM and this linik to the post I am sure he will jump on when he has a chance. Olives vs Grey Greens: Olives have dark blue/purple cheek patches and black-blue tails. Grey-greens have silver grey patches and black tails. Olive is a bird with 2 dark factors - in green it goes light green with no dark factors, dark green with 1 dark factor, and olive with 2 dark factors. Dark factors are inherited from their parents based on what color they are.. and how many they have. Grey-green is when a green bird inherits a grey gene from it's parents.. In blue birds, a bird that gets a grey gene would be grey. Which one fits your bird best?- Are Budgies Normally Less Active In Winter
Birds across the board wild or tame are less active, I always though Robins go south but learned that they hang around but they are quiet when spring comes everyone is chirping and flirting it is nature's way, it is due more to the daylight hours in the winter being shorter and spring getting longer then the weather. This affects all animals not just birds. - Need Help With Sexing
