Very Very cool...thought I am married with 2 kids, I love my solitare time too, enjoy it ...if I wasn't married I would have so many animals and be in so many different things involved with animals but since I am and loving it my path is different Proud of you!
  15. Spangle can't mask Opaline and vs versa the only genes that can mask a gene are your dilute genes example an ino gene since it erases the marking can mask the spangle or opaline gene, just like a dilute gene can make the marking less visible. These 2 genes don't make anything less "noticeable" so they don't mask each other they are both visible on the bird.
  16. the 3rd picture of the fluff cheeks is too cute Kaz, if you are not judge you really should enter in the June Budgie of the Month it has been a while

  18. you can tell if they eat if you gently blow on the seeds the empty seed shells will blow off that is how you know they are eating, you have to do that daily to ensure they are getting the seeds down below.
  19. The round perches they are talking about are the regular dowel perches because they have no knots, different types of twists and turns and widths to exercise their feet, birds that have these type of perches only can get what is known as bumblefoot. Round perches that are natural like branches from the store or the safe wood not treated in your backyard is perfect because that is what they stand on all day in the wild. I hope that clears up that round is not bad it is the type of round we are talking about.
  20. what a sweetie
  21. If the poos are still not right he needs to be seen by an avian vet
  22. I answeres this in the welcome post Steve to you about training etc...
  23. I wrote up a really good article that you can find on BBC about Taming your Budgie and it goes over what to expect and do for the first couple days, here is the link http://forums.budgiebreeders.asn.au/faqs/i...&artlang=en What type of cage did you purchase for your budgie, was it a small one from the pet shop or did you get a large one? I ask because no one mentioned it and many times first time budgie owners get the starter cage which is way too small. Your budgie is a Yellowface Type 2 Sky Blue Recessive Pied Cock and he is adorable. I would let him get used to his surrounding because getting him out of his cage, when he feels secure in his cage and with your hand and is finger tamed in the cage you can proceed to out of the cage training. Being very quiet shows a budgie that is most likely fearful especially if they are motionless so letting them get accustom to what is around them and you through patience is good. In a week, a new budgie will emerge it could be one that is very trusting of you or one that is biting and stricking back because the bond and trust wasn't formed. I know this through personal experience...so take your time with him. Welcome to the forums and always feel free to ask questions.
  24. I agree with libby she is beautiful ...(budgie of the month submission coughs.....lol)
