Some Pictures And A Video
there is nothing the vet can do unless you feel that she has a complete behavioral change indicating a respiratory infection. The change needs to be in the house before does get sick, Merlin was okay in a week once I brought him home the streaks of brown above the cere went away. I noticed them and Kaz thank goodness told me what it was so I didn't have her babysit him last time we left out of town we had a pet sitter come over.

I think that is what is causing it because even if it is not in the same room it the air flow goes through the whole house, you really need to discuss this with her that it is not safe. Irritation can turn into an infection and respiratory infections are not good.

excellent you did it , I agree more natural branches you can have them as a slant to to provide exercise, put the branches closer to the cage sides and leave the middle open for flight and you can put some branches short width so they can go back and forth, and at different heights like you have .

New Dave
Some babies do and some babies don't maybe it is due to mutation maybe not but it is no uncommon. It doesn't indicate disease. Merlin had a streak of black on his beak when I got him Merlin as a baby

When Not To Breed
That is good but because this is an international forum I believe it is worth saying because it can happen anywhere and it does. Look how many people have come to this forum looking for a home for their budgie whether it be forced or don't have the time, they are forunate to have members like Dave and others that have a large avary to take them in. I also believe you have a lot more aviaries where you are which gives more opporutunity for having a larger number of birds, to find an outdoor aviary at least in the Northern and some middle parts of the U.S. is rare because of our weather. Australia I believe is geared more toward the budgie as the US brought it over for pets there is not much show emphasize either as there is more in the bigger birds. It wasn't meant a shot down but a realistic view at least what happens here in the U.S. and we do have some U.S. members not many but, even in Canada this is a issue too not just the U.S. Doing a simple search on petfinders under budgies you will see the black and white reality.

When Not To Breed
This is the #1 reason not to breed (ONLY my opinion) go to the shelters, pet finders, bird rescues there are SO many birds out there including budgies that are now unwanted pets because people didn't know what to expect. They didn't realize a budgie can be so messy, loud at times, extra cost to feed and vet if needed, the time needed with a bird is much different then a dog or cat (yet another species that is over filling the pounds even more then birds), that their hen would start laying eggs or more.... The first thing you have to think about is where will they end up? The pet shop is not a good choice most of them are filled with adult birds that don't get adopted and then possibly turn into rat food (it is real). I shall noW get off my soap box (not meant to flare but it is real).

Feather Cyst
Sorry about that but I meant to add that it was probably caused by the trauma and time can tell if it is genetic or not. When you do a google you will find that it is more commonly genetic in blue gold macaws & canaries. Typed too fast and distracted by the kids waking up....

Feather Cyst
Time will tell some genetic issues don't come out until we get older, I hope he will be okay.

I Have Super Model Budgies
I agree with Norm he has made perfect sense we can't all be skinny , I think sometimes reading all the members issues that comes here makes us paranoid that our own birds are always sick.

Either that or respiratory irritation, as Kaz diagnosed on Merlin. It was because he stated at my mother-in-laws who burned candles & used air freshners dispite of my warnings. So check out your house for toxic fumes, tephon pans being used in the kitchen etc...
-
Feather Cyst
I am sure Kaz will answer on her behalf but from I remember her saying they can be removed with surgery but it is highly likely they do come back in different places because it seems to be genetic.

What Do I Do?
Hugs AV I am very sorry to hear about your loss As for your birds, I don't know an answer, could you call your vet and see if they know of anyone who can do in house pet service that is experience with birds or maybe one of their techs would like to make some extra money on the side?

looking good, when you resize your pics don't chose avatar size though because they are very hard to see just resize to message board which usually defaults at 640x480 which is acceptable on our site.
