  1. They're all such sweet little angels as babies. And then this  happens. Kathy.. I think that Willow must be Bunny's long lost identical twin. He looks just like him in the baby picture.
  2. I wanted to start a post for everyone to oooo and ahhhh over our innocent our baby birds looked and how much they've chaged. Feel free to post some pictures of your special little ones. Here's Carrington.
  3. I love Ash.. I hope you get lots more like him Daz.. I hardly ever see gray budgies - big or small. I looked all over the place for another one.
  4. I've never heard of Fantasy either, I hope they'll let you know what they mean.
  5. The decision was made for me.. The next time I went back to check she was gone.. I hope she got a nice, caring home.
  6. Congratulations of the eggs .. greeny is a beautiful bird, is she cinnamon?
  7. He still looks pretty young, so the guy was probably fairly accurate with his age. It's probably something to do with his coloring: why he doesn't have visible bars.. Bunny (one of my birds) has very, very light coloring so the bars aren't noticible.
  8. He does look purple-ish near his legs.. I thought gray budgies had dark blue cheek spots. Here's what Pretty looked like. Plus you can see how much bigger he (mostly English budgie) was.

Very nice job Lani.. I'm sure your bird will appreciate the trouble you've gone to.
  10. He doesn't have any bars on his head.. I'm wondering if that could mean he is a graywing or dilute as well.. Also looks like he could be clearflight. Could be the camera flash though.
  11. I love the pictures on that sight.. #8 Liriel is one of the most beautiful budgies I've ever seen.. I think she says hes dark grey. Here's his page. http://www.birds-online.de/meine_sittiche/...e/liriel_en.htm
  12. I love them. They are too cute
  13. He's very pretty. Nice to see an opaline male.
  14. I'm pretty sure that mine have been older than 3 months for their first moult.. I'm not sure exactly how old they were though.
  15. Ummm... Storm.. Wolverine.. Rogue... Professor X

I'm very sorry to here that he passed .. he didn't really look or sound like a healthy bird.
  17. Very cute.. in the picture Kernal looks like a male.. If there are white rings around the nostrils he could be a female.. Looks like a Dominant Pied to me.
  18. Very pretty. Bella sounds like the perfect name for her.
  19. Oh well.. poor you.. more budgies.. who would want that When does the search "officially" begin? Take the camera to the store.. and we'll tell you which one to get..
  20. Very detailed pictures.. she looks much better now. Were any of your other birds affected? Do you have to keep her separated?
  21. A violet spangle sounds lovely. I've only seen a few spangles in the US.. I wonder if they're not to common here. Jangles really does look like a hen to me. My female taught my male to bite.. He always follows her lead.. Its funny though.. he has this look in his eye that says "I know I'm supposed to do this right?"
  22. Here's what I'd do, but the advice you take is up to you. I've never tamed 2 birds that shared a cage at the same time, but I've never bought 2 birds at the same time either. Your birds are still young and can probably become pretty tame. If you have the time to spend with them individually, I would separate them for about a month into different rooms. Then, I would follow the method you mentioned in your original post talking softly to them and training them to step onto your hand in the cage and once they appeared to trust you take them out of the cage. Also do you mean that they each have only one wing clipped.. or that they are both clipped but longer on one side than the other. It would be a good idea for both wings to be clipped properly so that they won't be out of balance if they try to fly.

It is good that your took him to the vet when you suspected that he wasn't well.. but I'm not sure about the vet's conclusion that he just wasn't cleaning himself properly. You said Gin had had "many friends come and go" Have you lost others to illness? Your birds are both very attractive. The yellow/green looks a lot like mine. Good luck with them.

Congratulations on your new bird. I'm sure we can help you determine if he really is a he. I really haven't made a consious choice of picking a male or female bird yet. But it seemed, that I always ended up with males. The birds I have now are a female and a male. I got the female first and she was pretty tame when I got the male (about 5-6 months later). They each have their own cage.. but spend alot of time out together. Females and males have different personalities.. and each bird is an individual.
  25. I think that you could house 2 budgies in the larger Hagen Vision. I have one of those cages. --- wish I'd never have bought it though. They're difficult to clean and heavy. Not to mention that a plastic tab broke the first time I took it apart to clean.
