  1. thank you for your kind words Sherrie, your hugs were very much appreciated.. Karen the whole aviary is going to have a make over which will include cementing floors stage by stage and also covering the roof. I really dont want to ever go through this ever again, so many losses and they were the most beautiful little birds, always coming to me when ever id enter the aviary, hanging off my clothes and running about my feet and hiding in my hair RIP little ones and im so sorry
  2. I have just sent an EMERGENCY email to Vetafarm asking for the price of freight for a 250ml bottle of Coccivet either EXPRESS POST or even if they could manage to get it to the airport ill pay for it to be sent AIR EXPRESS I just cant believe how mind numb i went as soon as my own birds started getting ill, if it was someone else with the issues i would have been all full of advice, in my panic and heart breaking i kinda lost all train of thought, although if i think about it too much i will just ball my eyes out.. Karen, thank you for being a clear mind for me.. Would Apple and Co inside be at any risk do you think? Whoops the tears have started..
  3. OH MY GOSH.. I just googled up Coccidiosis and rather alot of the symptoms seemed to be like my birds.. The poops have been solid but very WHITE and they have been super lethargic, one also seemed to have a pinkish blood tinge to his poops.. And yeah the native/wild birds do hang about my aviary alot and can pop through over the flight area I have some Sulpha-Quin here that is used for the treatment and prevention of Coccidiosis, would i be jumping the gun if i started treatment?... I'm really at a disadvantage being so remote A quick edit to mention that there have been no new additions to the aviary but i supose thats really not an issue when i think about all the wild birds around anyways
  4. Hello Karen, since last posting ive lost another bird .. All the birds are regularly wormed each couple of months but ive given them another dose just incase.. they just seem to get extremely lethargic, weight loss and some have displayed signs of vomiting, poops are solid.. I was thinking worms at first but i just dont know..
  5. :ausb: Oh no... Fly free darling little Pretty.. Big Hugs to you Elly from me and Apple.. What sad news, i hope you are doing okay.. Una xx
  6. Oh WoW.. I didnt know heheee Thank you everyone {{HUGS}} On a sadder note, ive had one more loss out in the aviary today
  7. :oliveb: COOL Ill try them all out on a bit and let you know how it goes.. Thank you Actually at the moment since my aviary birds have been having a few issues, it might really help them out heaps also, i will make some of the jelly juice for them also..
  8. Thought id give an update on my flock... All the inside birds are doing GREAT, there is Apple who is still as cheeky and as talkative as ever and Munchy n Mig who are also very talkative, Munchy still has his foot mating fetish which hes now passed along to Miggy :oliveb: and then there is Budgie who came to me simply because his owners knew he would be more loved in my home than he was his and his "sibling" Harry the female Cockatiel.. Harry is happy to just be Harry and sit about all day, Budgie LOVES attention and is learning how to talk, he also has this little aeroplane trick that i taught him where on cue he stretches his wings right out, he leans forward and pretends hes gliding from side to side :hap: I have three little Bubs from the aviary that i've been handfeeding now for a few weeks which has been a blessing in disguise. The eldest has been named Cutie and i think he is going to be a little green spangle just like Apple, the middle one is Tic Tac and i'm so excited with him, he is from Apple Munchy and Migs parents but he is turning out ALL really really BRIGHT YELLOW and he has the most beautiful red eyes, i'm not sure if the parents could through a lutino and they haven't before but i'm just hoping and checking everyday that no coloured pin feathers come through hahaaa but they are so far all just bright yellow and un marked.. Then there is the baby who is named Noodle, when he came inside he looked just like a little pink noodle, no pin feathers at all, eyes still closed over and just one little pink BLOB.. i'm not sure what he will turn out to be.. i've had some pretty frightening times out in the aviary, but i hope that is all behind me for now. The trouble with living so remote is not having vet acess or when we do they have absolutely NO IDEA about birds and are more than keen just to put the birds to sleep.. :ausb: .. I have had some sort of illness hitting the birds pretty fast and i've had many deaths, my biggest fear was that whatever it was, getting transmitted to the bigger birds that i have under the patio or worse still inside to Apple and co.. Out of the 30 odd birds that i had outside, i have 17 left.. fingers crossed though as they are all looking really great and i'm hoping that whatever it was has passed.. I have absolutely scrubbed EVERYTHING in the aviary with sterilizing solution, i dug up the sand that was in the main shed section and in the flight area i've removed the plants i couldn't srcub, removed ALL the mulch and soil down to a depth of an inch or so and it all got drenched in the solution also.. If that doesn't atleast help a little i'm screwed .. i'm just glad i got the babies out way before any of this happened. I have had added to my flock of mixed birds a new Eastern Rosella for my little girl and also another Rainbow Lorikeet for Gypsy so he isn't lonely.. Ill try and take some photos of everyone later but thought id just write about how we are all going first.. Cheers  Una
  9. Hey Daz :oliveb: Just wondering if would be alright or if it would be too much to just give them a whole fresh Aloe leaf to nibble on? I recon the Ringnecks and Rosellas would go absolutly ape over it..
  10. :budgiedance: When i said to bring them in ASAP i was thinking because of the cold.. umm not for Breeding
  11. :budgiedance: **shakes head ... How very sad...
  12. TAKE THEM INSIDE 20DC is not hot.. I live in the tropics and it never drops below 20 and my birds are fine :budgiedance: The harsh cold though could kill your birds.. Now hurry up n go move them (id help if i was closer) Good luck n Cheers  Una
  13. :budgiedance: I think you have a cute little yellow face blue type 2 like my Munchkin.. here are some pics of him as a bub.. Cheers  Una
  14. Oh Bea.. After being away from the forums for so long i'm wandering about trying to catch up a little, this is a sad topic and i hope that your little man gets well soon.. It's good that you got him to the vets and that hes now being medicated.. as soon as i started reading your post my mind also wandered back to just after you had first bought him home and he got sick.. it felt like his quarantine was never going to end :(Laughing out loud): All my best to you and your little guy Oh Apple said to say "Watcha dewin?" :budgiedance:

Hello Sketa I live in Weipa.. About 900ks NW of Cairns, i don't know of any private Breeders but a great shop to purchase birds from in Cairns in Pets to Pamper.. Its beside Stocklands shopping center (at least i think thats the one with the big Marlin statue thingy out the front) the people at the shop handrear and i do believe breed some birds themselves.. All animals are also really well looked after.. Lemme know how you go in your search.. I also keep my eye out on www.petlink.com.au (there are a few breeders that advertise on here from around the Tablelands and Mareeba) Cheers  Una
  17. :hap: :hap: He looks so sweet with his beautiful orange cheeks

Two Story... now there is a plan, ive pretty much run out of garden space with the aviarys ive just had moved into the garden.. this idea seems like a very good plan indeed Karen.. actually i just thought about it and it may not be so great in the Cyclone season
  21. Oh yeah look at them Bless him, such a cutie just dont let Blinks see them, they may cause a little jealousy between them
  22. he has such a big head hahaaa thats meant to be a compliment.. I think hes adorable Bea
  23. I might sound evil but id be taking the nesting box out so that Parsely doesnt have the chance to get in there either... Ive had situations like this but not as bad, I take the trouble maker out of the aviary and put them into one of my smaller cages.. they pretty soon take a hint
  24. only a few weeks ago i had to fly my little baby Indian Ringneck out on the aeroplane (i live remote) for "Emergency Vet Treatment" he got a little poppy seed stuck in his nose (hence his name Poppy ) anyways the vet nurse tried to remove it with the end of a needle but only managed to push it back in further so then he was at risk of inhaling it.. After being flown out he actually managed to get it out himself during the flight out but the vet decided to rinse out his nostrils just incase, i'm not sure how exactly she rinsed them out but she did.. Also she said that in the case that if it was closer to the surface (like it was before the vet nurse pushed it back in ) I could have also used an empty syringe and very gently sucked it out.. I have had this done with bubby budgies before with hand feeding mix stuck in their noses but never thought about doing it with the seed
