Aww Bea if you like i could send you some of my feather collection I've found myself searching the bottom of Apples cage and the outside aviary on the lookout for "Pretty" feathers.. My 8 year old daughter has show and tell each Friday at school and she was running out of things to show so i suggest she collect the feathers, i should have known it would become MY job to collect them :hap: But on the upside we are now getting a nice little freezer bag full of multi coloured feathers (the things we do) Cheers :beer: Una

Havent got a safety door happening yet, so its a really fast manoeuvre in and out.:fear .. im use to doing that as the original aviary didnt have a safety door. Although now im getting more birds that wont be so use to the whole process, i will in time make another extension of a corridor along the front outside of the aviary as a back up incase of escape artists. Hello Everyone, I haven't visited for a few weeks as i've been working on my latest creation.. I decided to upgrade and enlarge my bird aviary :fear .. It was a job and a half, let me tell you :(Laughing out loud): (Laughing out loud) half way through i was wondering why i had started but id just think of the joy on my lil guys faces as they would be flying about with so much space . They have only been in there for a few days and tend to spend alot of time still in the old enclosed part, i've gone in on occasion and shewed them out and they love it once they are out but once one goes back inside the rest follow. Just wondering ...At what age does a chick stop getting fed from its mother? Apple still has a feed of cereal first thing in the morning and then last thing at night, although the morning feed is getting less and less and he prefers to spit and flick half of it all over the place He is having seed during the day and any bits of fluff he seems to pick off the floor hahaa I'm looking forward to a more seed/greens etc diet and less baby cereal as it doesn't make for pleasant little packages out the other end Cheers :beer: Una

WOW Thanks for all the information, and sorry about my use of shortcuts its a hard habbit to break.. My lil baby is doing so so sooooooo CUTE I havent been able to get online for the last day or so and was amazed with the responses and help you have all offered. I have made up my shopping list and knowing my luck they wont have half of the stuff suggested at the shops, but if nothing else i know they have eggs there at times hahaaa.. Ill take him to the vet when he/she comes back into town for a check up and advice, our vet comes into town once a month so he/shes not alot of help at the moment.. Time to go feed the baby, i think ill (TRY) and get a photo or two of him, im actually amazed at how hes weaseled his way into my heart Thank you all again so much Cheers :beer: Una

Hugs and Ty for the help so far. One of the main issues thats sort of against me is im so remote its stupid.. My closest town (petstore) is 900ks away on a dirt road thats closed 1/4 or more of the year, or its a 2hr flight away.. our freight takes a couple of weeks to get here becouse it comes on a barge Hence feeding my new lil baby on farex baby food (human infant food) its all i have to give him ALTHOUGH a friend of mine that is a wildlife carer (no experiance with budgies though) gave me some Insectovore powder to mix into the rice to maybe get a few more nutrients into him. I wassnt sure if anyone had any other ideas and i appreciate all that you have given me already Oh i can hear a baby thats wanting a feed heheeee :beer: Cheers Una

Hello peoples After a HUGE search of the internet i was so glad to find this site, My name is Una I have a few Budgies, two of which have started breeding .. all was going great untill the mother rejected her bubs, two died and im now hand raising the other .. My major issue is I HAVE NO CLUE BOUT BABY BUDGIES hahaaaa Hes being fed baby rice at the moment and is coming along great guns but im not convinced im doing all i can for the lil mite, I dont even know how old he is, He's got a gew feathers and quils on his head wings and tail with fluff on the rest of him. I guess really the main reason im in here is to get any help and advice to help raise my new little baby.
