  1. I have sand in the bottom of my birds cage inside and also there play gym.. Its really easy to just sweep up with a dustpan and brush (the top layers) or when i'm lazy i stick the vacuum cleaner in there and suck up the top layer (just don't put the nozzle to close or you will end up with no sand left ) Cheers  Una

Thats a very sweet little funky hairdo he has there i love Pal's wee lil baby face
  3. (Laughing out loud) I wish that Munch would attack the other budgies instead of me Even as im typing hes at it with my toes, spose im lucky as its normally with my fingers even when im typing it is cute though how he sweet talks my toes.. "Hey Cutie.. talk to me.. Watcha doing *inserts a few fart noises* beep beep beep beep"
  4. My Munchy does the same thing, although he is the toe lover aswell.. doesnt seem to bother him even if we are walking, mind you if he cant get our hands or toes.. hes happy to go with anything aslong as its human ..Its getting pretty bad actually, we cant even just hold him much anymore without him trying to mate with us, he even CHASES us just to have a go
  5. So s/hes a Olive Opaline Cinnamon (any changes on this anyone? (Laughing out loud))
  6. Actually his cheek patches are the most beautiful purple colour, it just doesnt show up in the photo .. Thanks everyone, Im glad to know what he is and im still trying to convince my other half to let me bring him inside but he seems to think i have enough in already... Pfftt MEN

Wonderful set up Hath... Look forward to seeing some pictures of your birds :hap:
  14. I tend to find i can never have too many cages.. i've had times where i've had to adapt the outside frames of wall mounted airconditioners and turn them into cages :hap: So i was really pleased to find this link although a lil annoyed i paid the same price for just ONE of the exact same cages from Ebay (just imagine the profit this guy must be making )

I'm not too sure on the dimensions of your aviary in regards as to how many you can have in there, but yeah id probably move them into the new surroundings early in the morning so they have at least a full day to get use to the idea and Yup you need to have two breeding boxes for each pair of breeding birds available or they may tend to squabble.. I'm sure someone with more experience will be along shortly to help you out more \ Cheers  Una
  16. Ummm since ive been away for quite a while... did i miss out on seeing Karens wedding pictures? Im super keen to see those
  17. :hap: Very Cool... Wanna make me some now? hahaaa
  18. I had been sort of thinking along the same lines but was thinking of Cod liver oil and Safflower oil instead.. The Cod liver oil helps in giving the birds an extra Iodine intake as well as extra vitamins and the Safflower oil is rich in essential fatty acids (Apparently) This is something i've read in one of my birds egg food recipes and thought about using it in the seed also Cheers  Una
  19. My aviary is on the dirt/grass but its all lined with bricks and really thick anchor rope, i've had no issues with rats and i've filled the shed parts of the aviary with sand which is really easy to sweep clean every few days and then top up every month or so. All the flight areas are either grassed, wood chipped or pebbled Cheers  Una
  20. Not being able to see your pictures clear, your little one reminds me of my Apple Apple is a green spangle ( i hope hahaa) and here is a picture of Munchy which is a Yellow face blue Type 2 (with apple) Your little one id say is a beautiful green spangle, being a spangle makes the wing markings lighter than usual also Cheers  Una
  21. Okay just went out and had another little look at him and his tail is more brown than blue although it does have the faintest tinge of blue (not as dark as it seems in the picture) and i took the little one out into the sun to have a propper look at his eyes, they are so soooo dark but almost appear to be a plum colour like Mig's eyes What are you thinking? Edit: Hmm Had ANOTHER look and the eyes may infact be dark brown instead hahaaa (maybe i need glasses)
  22. Hes not actually, but may as well be.. his twin even He has the big crazy pupil thing happening like Apple always does
  23. Thought id post a couple of links for some REALLY cheap bird cages i've just purchased here in Australia... http://www.dealsdirect.com.au/p/4-black-bird-cage-4-feeders/ These ones are the same as the one i bought on ebb (paid the same price for the one cage CARR) I thought it was a great price for FOUR of them.. http://www.dealsdirect.com.au/p/green-whit...rd-cage-aviary/ I bought this one too.. Thought it would make a great cage for Gypsy my Lorikeet They have other cages and pet stuffs too, and they seem to change it frequently... Cheers  Una
  24. hehee Dingo, Im one of those people that tends to call most things a He even if it is a She :(Laughing out loud): To be honest i havent actually looked at "his" cere before, i was more interested in the body colouring to notice .. And yeah the markings on his wings are brown, even his body is a dirty green/brown colour I soooo want to bring him inside but my hubby thinks i have enough inside with the three other budgies, a honey eater, and a Rainbow Lorikeet.. Oh and in about 4 weeks time ill have a beautiful baby Indian Ringneck inside too Im tempted to sneek this lil guy in too though, I dont think he will notice one more budgie
  25. Hello Everyone, I haven't been about much lately but do pop my head in when i get the chance (even though i don't post)... Anyways i've had about 10 new little babies in the aviary over the last few months and at the moment there are still six in nesting boxes.. One of my "Army" clutch (they are all green/brown) babies has caught my eye and i'm absolutely in love although i'm not exactly sure on what to call him genetics wise.. (Sorry If there is too many pictures.. i've fallen in love with him ) This is his Daddy.. i'm not sure if the photos do him any justice or not but he is kinnda a dirty greeny brown colour with brown wing markings and beautiful little purple cheek spots. What is he?? Oh here is Mum when she was alot younger.. Cheers  Una
