Please do not wait till wednesday, get your bird to the first available (preferably avian vet) asap. I do not like the sound of this, and a bird can go downhill very fast.
  2. He may let you take him from his cage, that is great. If he flies straight back to his cage, that is great also, he is showing you that his cage is a place he feels safe in, or on. A good sign. As time goes on, he wil get more used to feeling secure away from his cage, dont force it, let him decide how far and how fast he wants to go.
  3. MISS ME, BUT LET ME GO. When I come to the end of the road, and the sun has set me free, I want no rites in a gloom filled room, Why cry for a soul that is free? Miss me a little, but not too long And not with your head bowed low. Remember the love that we once shared; Miss me, but let me go. For this journey that we all must take And each must go alone, It's all part of natures plan... A step on the road home. When you are lonely and sick at heart, Go to the hills we both know. And bury your sorrows amongst the trees; Miss me, but let me go. (auther unknown)

MY PRAYER (re: Pickle) He’s just a little baby Lord, who perhaps should not be here. But he needs your help so very much, and someone holds him dear. I know that Mother Nature said he could not stay here long, But please Lord, will you talk to her and ask her, make him strong? You see, he really wants to live he’s trying hard to stay, But he’s so tiny, weak and frail and I can only pray. Please Bless this little life form Lord, please let him stay with me. Please do not call him back just yet, I love this little bird, you see. I know I never could repay this blessing that I plead But Id never let you once regret, leaving him with me. I thank you Lord for yesterday, I thank you for today I thank you without question, for sending him my way. My earthly hands can only do as much as You allow. And if I need some extra help, please will you send it now? Whatever your decision is, I never will lose sight, That for a while you Blessed me with this tiny, fragile life. I wont regret a single step of this journey Ive begun. I know that you are listening, So dear Lord, Thy will be done. A.M.Kenyon

Constantly fluffed up is cause for concern in my oppinion Mickey. What are his poops like, have they changed at all, in colour or texture? Is there any smell with his poops (sounds nasty, but I always do this if Im concerned,) squish a bit of his fresh poop in your fingertips and sniff. Any unpleasant aroma is usually a sign of a gastrointestinal problem. Anne
  9. Thankyou everyone :hap: she is an adorable little bird, and thoroughly makes the most of life. sadly, her life expectancy is short, because of her disability. This is because with her spending so much time on her tummy, her chest wall is slowly begining to collapse, and compromising her breathing. At the moment, its not too bad, but it is something that can only get worse. The main thing is, that her life is as wonderful as it can possibly be while she is here. Quality, not quantity is all that matters
  10. Bea, he DOES! Not quite as much, but when he does speak, its usually rude things that spill from his wicked little beak :hap:

Please do NOT wait, take him as fast as possible. The simplest way to look at it is that a bird will not display illness or pain unless it is severe. If you yourself were in possible severe pain, yu wouldnt want to wait a few days before you could get any relief from it would you My golden rule is if it was me, would *I* want to wait.......

I personally would never clip a birds wings alone, I always get an experience handler to assist, so the bird can be held gently but securely by the helper (usually in a soft fleece or towel to contain any panic thrashing, which can so easily lead to a broken wing or leg)and I gently extend the wing to be clipped and depending on the species of bird, clip NO more than 6 primaries. Hope this is of help, but please never forget that what may SEEM a simple and easy task is NEVER simple if it involves restrictive handling and the use of a sharp instrument near or on the bird.

  19. Ive made this as small as I can for download, but it may still take a while as it is quite a long video. The music Ive chosen is an original sound track created by a friend of mine, Eth Moumtfitchet. The score is called ''Memories of a childhood past''. I think it is perfect, as our birds bring out the childlike, innocent love in us, in a way that nothing else can quite match. I hope you like what you see, and what you hear. Blessings, Anne xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx http://imageevent.com/chirpy/birdvideos?p=...l=0&w=4&s=0&z=2

Do you have a small cage you could take him in? It would be less stressful. As a one off, your budgie will probably be okay, but a tiny cage would be better. Also, turn up early for your appointment, they may well see you sooner and you can get home and get him back in his cage. Good luck!
