  1. Hi all, some of the very old timers may remember me from many moons ago I am here now because I desperately need your help. A little boy I know had a pet budgie, Bubblegum, and a couple of weeks ago Bubblegum went to Rainbow Bridge. This little boy (Tommy) is autistic, and Bubblegum was the light and love of his sometimes very closed and private little world. It is his birthday today, and last night his mum asked him what he was hoping for, for his birthday presents, and he started crying again, and begged for just one more day with Bubblegum instead of his presents :'( PLEASE, does anyone in the Lancashire or merseyside area have a hand reared or vert tame budgie for sale? Can anyone here help me to heal this childs heart? The budgie will have a wonderful home with Tommy and his family, and will also have other budgies to mix with as well, but primarily, he will be Tommy's little friend. Can anyone help, please? many, many thanks, Annie xx
  2. It's been years since I was here, but I noticed today that the memorial video I made can no longer be viewed, so I have reloaded it to youtube. I also changed the backing track as I think this one is nicer. I know this video meant so much to everyone when I made it, so here it is back for the old members. Im much better at these things now, so if you would like a completely new and better quality vid, let me know xx

Elly, teapot went downhill very suddenly. One minute deemingly fine the next, fluffed, quiet, huddled and not eating. We all know that at this stage, he's been declining for sone time, but being a bird, he hid it, as birds do. His post mortm/necropsy showed severe liver and kidney failure, he didnt stand a chance I just cant believe it, i really cant. Please go and light a candle for dear little Teapot here... http://www.gratefulness.org/candles/candle...ng&gi=Teapt

Thankyou everyone. yes, Teapottie was one in a million, I cant actually believe, or am currently unable to believe that this isnt just a bad dream. I just keep thinking ''this cant be! this can NOT be'' yet, of course I know it is. It was my hands he took his final sleep in. It just seems unreal

The oldest bird I ever had was my Amazon, Cinders (see picture below) She was 76 years of age when she passed away.

After battling so hard, my beloved Teapot passed away quietly in my hands on Tuesday night. There will never be another cheeky Teapot, and I still cant quite believe its happened.

  12. This is my friends budgie, Biddybe. She is a rescue, and its taken THREE patient years for her to become tame like this! Please could you experts out there tell me as much as you can about her breeding/type? Many thanks in advance, Anne http://s207.photobucket.com/albums/bb79/BE...nt=185B7CF2.jpg

You are welcome Norm, I could not keep this to myself, and have posted it on many other boards. Please cross post and use my pictures if you use other boards also. I am just thankful that I am reporting a very near miss, and not an actual death. But if they is kept in circulation as it is current;y designed, its only gping to be a matter of time before a death occurs, if it hasnt already.
  15. Just recently, a little budgie, Philip came into my birdless world. I bought him (amongst many others, THIS toy He got his neck trapped in the gap between the pinch-seed cup and the edges of the toy, HERE In what must have been his struggle to free himself, he ended up exactly as the sketch below portrays...HORRIFIC, isnt it. I managed to free him in time to save his life because I was able to push the pinch seed cup out of the way and release his trapped neck As you will see from the sketch, Philip would have DIED horribly had I not been in the room when he got caught. If you have this toy, it is vital to the life of your bird that you remove the tray, and also the flimsy wire and beads on the mirror. It is a lot safer then. Philip nearly fied, please dont let his sickening accident happen to any of your birds.
  16. This really is turning into swings and roundabouts isnt it! Everything you are doing is right, keeping her warm, sheltered from draughts, encouraging, not forcing her to eat. You asked about a little nest type thing that you could wear with her in it... I had a very sick baby cockatiel, and I made her a little puch (I will find the picture and put it here for you shortly)I used a circular poece of fleece, and gathered it up round the edges to make like a kind of pouch. I attached a strap to it (just another, longer, strip of fleece) and wore it around my neck with the little one in it. I had the pouch so that it rested at heart level, I think she found that comforting. I guess Baby's fate really lies within the hands of the Gods right now, but be assured that youare doing everything right for her.Love and warmth,Anne xhere is ''Pickles Pouch'' x http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a222/Pre...Progress098.jpg http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a222/Pre...Progress093.jpg
  17. I wouldnt reccomend Dettol, or any of that type of disinfectant. I always disinfected my cages with a VERY dilute jeyes fluid, then rinsed all parts thoroughly. My time honoured favourite though was simply good old fashioned hot soapy water :0

Hi everyone, great to see you all again! And kaz, I am on a dolls forum because I was collecting Tiny tears Teapot is as wicked as ever, and Snowy his long term friend is great. The little budgie on my face was a bird that my petshop gave me because of her dreadful splay. However, she copes fantastically with it, and can fly like a dream Sadly, I have to let you know that I no longer have any birds They are all safe and well and rehomed together) I had a condition called Hypersensitivity Pneumonitis, and it was destroying my lungs. If Id carried on working with birds it would have killed me in the end, so although Im popping on and off the board, I can never go near a bird again I still have so many pictures and videos and memories though, I thank God that nothing cvan force those things away from me, and I still have my passionate love for all things feathered. Im coming to terms with everything slowly, but it was very hard getting used to the fact that there was no way I could keep any of my birds. At leasdt I know where they all are, and that they are doing really well, that counts for so much. xxx

Great pictures Bea! i can see your avatar, I think its awesome! Im surprised Adam would let you get away with something quite so rude though, but I guess a bare bottom isnt too bad...

it sure was hard at times Daz At one point I had 44 parrots inside, and 6 wildbirds working on rehab outside :budgiedance: I loved every minute of it though, despite the fact that they all showed their gratitude by pooping all over me

Hope you enjoy a peep at my memories, as you will see, from one tiny budgie grew quite a full rescue sanctuary, and this is just a FEW of the guys :budgiedance: http://photos.imageevent.com/chirpy/memori.../world_0001.wmv

As lovely as ever bea, great to see them all again :budgiedance:
  24. I have two little 'runners', except I call them 'walkers' They have a large cage with plenty of climbing equipment and perches, but the main thing is I have padded the bottom. A simple babies changing mat at the bottom of the cage can prevent injuries and bruising should the budgie/s take a tumble off the perch, or forget that they cant actually fly! Never use towelling as floor padding, as tiny claws can get caught up in the loops and actually be torn out of the toe. (agonising) Thick fleece is a far safer alternative, and you can still put the newspapers on top of it to help keep the washing down a bit
