Posted February 19, 200619 yr Just a quick question on type 2 yellowface budgies. I think my newest little guy is a type 2 yellowface doublefactor dominant pied (could be recessive though). He is almost completely white but throughout his whole body there are streaks of yellow. In fact, he looks more like a creamino with a cobalt rump and baby bars than anything else. Thing is, as far as his face goes, there only seems to be yellow on his poofy cheeks (not the cheek flashes which are both white but the sides of his face themselves) and under the baby bars. So far he has no throat spots. Um... I guess I'm just asking if I could be right about his mutation. I'll get a picture of him later as I'm sure that will help ten times more than my muttled description.
February 19, 200619 yr You got a new one??????? I'm so jealous! It does sound like a type 2 yellowface. He should molt in with more yellow on the head and throughout the body. Since he is more a cream color already I think you are right. That's the way Sunny was before his first molt, and he is yellow as yellow can be now.
February 19, 200619 yr Ooo I hope so!! He really does remind me of Sunny a lot and you know how much I love Sunny. He's got hardly any markings on the side of the face though, pretty much all he has are the head bars on top of the head and just a few faint ones on the side. I'm guessing the budgie I saw him feeding earlier in the week was a clutchmate and he was definitely a yellowface pied, very cute! He was gone though. I was surprised Pip was still there! I guess everyone has different budgie tastes though. Now all I need is a spangle.
February 19, 200619 yr He sounds adorable. You're probably right about him being a type II. I guess everyone has different budgie tastes though I think that alot of people go for really bright colors. Right before I got Khepri, someone was ahead of me picking out 3 birds.. they got a yellow recessive pied and 2 normal greens.. I was so sure they were going to get him. To me, he was hands down the prettiest and most unusual.
