Posted June 10, 200816 yr okay so I am moving everything around. The last few days Harley (who normally avoids me) has been crawling out of his cage when I am changing their water and onto my shoulder or trying to tuck in under my shirt. So I have figured that he is cold he is near 8 years old and I just think this winter is to cold for him so he is now going to winter in the study with me. The breeding pair that I got from melbournebudgie have shown no interest in breeding so I am going to move them to the outside cage. I think I will bring Mozzie in with him as they seem to fight like mad but sort of the couple that they can beat the **** out of each other but no one else can. will do Mozzie good to have a little more human interaction I think. I am not planning on breeding from them so will block up the box but more I don't think he will handle being in here on his own. The other thing I am doing is hopefully picking up my new aviary this weekend. If everything goes to plan then I am going to see about buying Lemon and Lime she is a Lutino female and he is a normal green (I think) they are this cute couple that a local breeder has but no one wants cause they are paired up and older I just know that they are going to end up being split up and they are such the cute old couple who keep trying to have a clutch but are not allowed Which will take me up to 8 birds and I will also bring Lemon and Lime in during the spring so they can finally have a family. Oh any idea on what a Lutino and a Normal Green will produce also what will a Blue and a Normal green produce. I am still working out genetics. So yeah I just thought people might like an update. Will post pictures of the move around when I get a chance. have to update my sig with all my new babies.
June 10, 200816 yr Assuming there are no splits/hidden genes, etc they will all be normal green babies split for either lutino or blue (depending on which pair). If in the pair with the blue the green is split for blue then you may get some blue babies. Edited June 10, 200816 yr by melbournebudgies
June 10, 200816 yr Author Thats what I thought. I really would love a blue from harley (as he is a blue) but to tell you the truth I think his breeding days are far far behind him! what do you think I would get out of Blue and Flame (see sig) Blue is a Colbot Res Pied and Flame is a Lutino (or so I have been told)? June 10, 200816 yr That's well beyond my real of understanding BUT I would say that because blue is a normal (underneath the recessive pied) and lutino is essentially a green bird you would get... green normals Unless you know the parentage of your green birds it is hard to know whether you will get any blues as it depends whether your greens are split. June 10, 200816 yr Author Doomed I am doomed you hear me to have nothing but green birds!!!! My poor dad after all these years I think he was looking forward to helping me out with my blues and I am going to have nothing but greens for him!
June 11, 200816 yr Author okay so what normally would have taken me a few hours took me almost two days! this is where I am up to I moved DQ and Fiji to the patio cage, yes I know that means that they had about 14 days quarra rather then 30 but all their tests came back clean and I really needed to get Harley inside and after buying the aviary and my $5000 hospital bill I don't have the cash to get another indoor cage. Here is the renovated patio aviary I know it really only has to do them untill the weekend or maybe a bit longer depends on when my outdoor aviary gets up. I tried to have one section which is play based and the other which is sleep eat and get away from the others based if that makes sense. This is Harley and Mozzie inside the study. Harley seems happy. I know that sounds strange but he is all chirpy and bobbing. Also went to the breeder that I know and ended up with two more birds. Yes I got Lemon and Lime! Will post pictures of them when I pick them up over the weekend. Seems that the cock (Lime) is not the best Normal Green so breeders do not want to take the pair. Lemon (a Lutino) is really nice but as she is super bonded with Lime breeders do not want to take her as she might not bond with another cock.... Ivan gave them to me! *does a happy dance* I also took another one off his hands for melbournebudgie a Cock nic named "mixer" He is supose to be a Lutino but I am thinking he is a pied. But hey free birds! Ivan likes me he runs the local pet store and I am always in there getting stuff including the little boy I look afters Dragon, his sisters mouse and his younger brothers fish and all the **** that goes with them. I also get all my dog supplies and my budgie supplies through him. A picture of Mixer I am going with he is a pied not a Lutino but I can't get a good look at his eyes to see if they are red and forgot to do this when I had him in hand to move him into the cage from the box.
June 11, 200816 yr I love him G!!!! Strange with the pale cheek patches kinda halfway between pied and lutino It will be good to know what colour his eys are, maybe hes is fallow pied
June 11, 200816 yr Author I love him G!!!! Strange with the pale cheek patches kinda halfway between pied and lutino It will be good to know what colour his eys are, maybe hes is fallow pied  He is a really nice bird. I am almost tempted to say "nope sorry he flew away right into my aviary" I have been trying to get a good look at his eyes but he needs a hair cut! But you know what is funny sitting here listening to harley he is making the stranges sounds and hanging from the top of his cage you would think he was only a year old not 8!
