Karyn 0
Hi All, Following on from my previous post I am in the process of converting a gazebo into an aviary. It is 4m x 3m. I currently have 4 male budgies who live indoors with me. Once I do move them into the aviary I would like to over time introduce further budgies to the aviary and am aware of the quarantine procedures to follow. I would however like some advice on whether I would be better off continuing with only male budgies or if males and females could live peacefully with each other in a mixed aviary environment. I also definitely do not want to breed so am also aware I need to ensure there is nothing in the aviary that could be used as a nest. Any advice on a mixed aviary would be much appreciated. Thanks, Karyn Edited May 12, 2013 by Karyn
robyn 0
Hi, You should be able to have a mixed aviary with no bother as long as you don't have nest box's it should be fine. Mine get along really well even when you introduce new birds or kindy chicks to aviary they just seem to accept newcomers. Mind you, sometimes you get the odd one that wants to be "the boss" but they usually settle down. Just be aware that the breeding bug is addictive!! Once you have your aviary set up the mind starts to say, wouldn't it be nice to have some chicks. You have been warned. l.o.l.
