Posted September 10, 201212 yr Well it doesnt matter how many more times this forum is updated , the life is gone . What happened to this forum , it use to have great proactive members and now seems to have pushed them or deleted them all away . Splat had a great idea for online shows and Nothing ??? Looks like down hill from here -------------------------------------------------------
September 10, 201212 yr Very quiet Matt, I think they have all hibernated for the winter!!! When does breeding season usually start for showies??
September 12, 201212 yr Yep.... have to admit that my life has changed somewhat and the BBC has taken a back seat. I have a cruize around every now and then to see what's going on but that's about all. Have no time to take pics and post but try and help out now and then...... Um sorry......
September 13, 201212 yr Well, we need you as well Nubbly, especially on the mutations etc. us dumb bunnies can't help out with those query's
September 13, 201212 yr Hey, Haven't even seen some of the moderators on for a long time now, usually KAZ would answer most questions but there's been no nothing from them.
September 19, 201212 yr Life gets busy sometimes and we have to deal with stuff and unfortunately we cannot come on here as much as we would like. I'm sure things will pick up soon.
September 20, 201212 yr Wow. I think this may be a sign of the times. The British Budgie forum got closed down about a year ago, and I've seen a couple of different new forums that those people tried to start up, and by the looks of them, they are slow as well. I'm not on Facebook, but I have heard that there is a Show Budgie group on there. I wonder if that's where everybody's gone to. Like Nubbly and Birdluv have already mentioned, sometimes we get busy with real life, and don't have as much time to spend in the virtual world. I'm quite guilty, myself. I've had a lot to juggle lately, and BBC was one of the first things that got dropped. I got a chance to log on a couple of weeks ago, but didn't have time to look around much. Even today, I don't really have the time to be on here. But last night before bed, I was trying to hurry with some housekeeping on my own website, which included checking if my links were still working. When I checked the link to here, this thread jumped out at me, in the "In Memorium section." I felt really bad, and it kept me awake a lot of the night. (By The Way Dillster, I got a chuckle out of the placement of this thread in the Memorials section, and we don't just go around deleting people for speaking their mind. You'd have to be a serious trouble maker to even get a warning, and even the ones where we've had to do that, have gotten plenty of chances to keep their accounts. I've never seen it go beyond warnings.) Matt, I think that upgrading the forum might be an attempt to freshen it up and get new members, but I suspect it has the opposite effect. I know there were some people who dropped out after the Oct 2010 upgrade, when the changes made it dificult for some to navigate around here. This last upgrade is really not to my liking, but I really haven't had the time to try to get used to it. Maybe I will. But yeah, I would say that most of the people I made friends with when I first joined in '09 are long gone. It's not the same without some of their humor. (I might make attempts, but I am known as being humorly challenged.) okay, enough of that. I came on today to do a photo thread, to try to help a little. Upload to Photobucket is finally ready, so off I go.
September 21, 201212 yr Great to see people touch base again. We novice/pet owner types are really missing the input from the more knowledgeable members. It's hard to comment on things we don't yet understand (wonder if I ever will ) like genetics etc.
September 21, 201212 yr There are a great many facebook budgie pages up and running now and they are very active and I suspect why this forum is now on a go slow.
September 21, 201212 yr Shame, this place has a ton or tonne (which ever is more) of information that if you search for you can find. Like KAZ says there are plenty of groups on facebook, I just get sick and tired of seeing all the same pictures in all the groups, and then you've got the people intent on claiming that they have a new mutation... I much prefer this place, but you're right Matt, it seems to be dying a slow death.
September 22, 201212 yr Hi JB! Long time, no see! I think I had you in mind when I said I miss the funny ones.
September 23, 201212 yr hmmm... I suppose FB is taking over eh? But there is one good thing about forums that facebook doesn't have... and that is stickys I love stickys
September 26, 201212 yr hmmm... I suppose FB is taking over eh? But there is one good thing about forums that facebook doesn't have... and that is stickys I love stickys That is true, I too like the smilies
September 27, 201212 yr I was on the FB pages until a) someone got stuck into me for some help I tried to give and b ) another someone broke into a few aviaries in WA and advice was given not to post birds on FB. The a) can go and stick his head back up his **** from where he pulled it in the first place and the b ) hasn't been caught yet so my visits to the FB pages are over. Not that I've had a lot of time to be either here or there to be honest. I'll try and take some pics of some of my new youngsters to post up soon....... I hope. Hehehe I do love how this forum censors out things like **** but not cock! Edited September 27, 201212 yr by nubbly5
September 28, 201212 yr b ) another someone broke into a few aviaries in WA and advice was given not to post birds on FB. This is why I won't even join Facebook. (Not to protect an aviary- I don't have one) But because I sell my birds on line, and I don't want my Website name connected on line to my real name, cuz people can google your name and find your address. Everyone I've sold a bird to has been a nice person, but I don't tell them where I live until I feel comfortable first. I've been told I can make up a fake name on FB, but I just don't want to deal with it. I'll be glad to see you back around here, Nubbly. What little time I can manage to steal to come on here myself.
September 29, 201212 yr hmmm... I suppose FB is taking over eh? But there is one good thing about forums that facebook doesn't have... and that is stickys I love stickys That is true, I too like the smilies I meant sticky threads? lol

October 24, 201212 yr Well I am on facebook like a lot of others and also my priorities have changed some what. I am again selling all my birds as I will be selling everything including the house. The boyfriend (Finally found my soulmate) and I are going to be Grey Nomads. I pop in from time to time but usually only look and aswer mutation/genetic questions as this is my area of expertise. It is a shame the forum have dies a bit but that is the way of things. Don't be afraid of Facebook peoples. Just be careful who you make friends. There are privacy controls and you can block people. I know many people who bad mouth facebook and it usually turns out they do cause they are uninformed about it and don't know how to use it. I have found Facebook a very valuable tool for so many reasons.
