I don't have red mite yet but i have seen little critters in the nest boxes that look more and the size of weavles . Anyway I plan on using this great product. It can been put in the nest box and under the concave and also in the nesting material because it is completely safe for the birds. If the eat any they will ingest I think 14 minerals Diatomaceous Earth Natural Pest Control DIATOMACEOUS EARTH - FRESH WATER SOURCE THE PEST CONTROL - NATURAL ALTERNATIVE TO CHEMICALS FOR RIDDING YOUR HOME, GARDEN AND LIVESTOCK OF PESTS PROTECT YOUR FAMILY FROM INSECTS THE NATURAL WAY WHAT IS DIATOMACEOUS EARTH (AMORPHOUS NON-CRYSTALLINE SILICON DIOXIDE)? we supply the finest quality of Diatomaceous Earth which is composed of the skeletal remains of millions of fossilized microscopic diatoms that once flourished as a form of golden brown aquatic algae or plankton that lived in oceans and lakes as a food source for all kinds of aquatic creatures. As far back as the beginning of the Cenozoic Era some 65 million years ago, diatoms have existed and contributed to the buildup of sediment on the ocean floor. Fossilizing over eons of time into soft powdery rock many feet thick, geological forces pushed these deposits up to the Earth's surface. Today, the deposits that are mined and milled into a whitish powder are primarily from diatoms that lived in lakes which evolved mostly in the Miocene Epoch or younger time periods roughly 25 million years ago. The fossilized remains of these microscopic diatoms have remarkable and safe bug killing qualities when mined and milled to a fine powder. Diatomaceous Earth kills bugs by sticking to their waxy protective outer layer causing dehydration (chemical-like action) by absorbing their body fluids, or causing abrasion with subsequent loss of fluids and interfering with their breathing mechanism and mobility by mechanical action. DE also has a deterring factor that acts to fence bugs out, without the undesirable chemical effects and eventual resistance that occurs with poisons, which creates super bugs. As long as a bug comes into physical contact with the powder they wil eventually die. Some bugs, like caterpillars die almost instantly, while others with harder exoskeletons may take a few hours, or days to succumb. But, patience is well worth the health and safety benefits. This ancient substance is truly a modern day natural treasure-a safer and simple solution to our everyday insecticidal needs of eliminating bugs. Food grade Diatomaceous Earth can be safely used as a pest control in the home and garden around children and pets. It also has many other novelty uses; * instead of baking soda to deodorise kitty litter, shoes, refrigerators, vacuum cleaner bags and garbage bins. * soak up motor oil spills * soothe bug bites and bee stings * kill fleas, ticks and lice * resists mold and moisture * metal polisher when moistened * preserves leaves and dried flower arrangements * Increase egg production in fowls * elimination scours and intestinal parasites * protect grains and seeds in storage * Face scrubs and masks * Natural Pest Control we supply only the best and finest Diatomaceous Earth which is 100% pure and is totally organic. It contains less than 1% of Crystal & Silicon. Some of the uses for Diatomaceous Earth include; household pets, gardens, flowerbeds, field crops, grain storage, and livestock feeding Use Diatomaceous Earth for pest control of roaches, silverfish, ants, bedbugs, flies, fleas, caterpillars, termites, grasshoppers and many others. Diatomaceous Earth can be used in and around the home, yard, animal housing, etc. Pets: Our best friends come in all shapes and sizes. Protect them with Diatomaceous Earth. When lightly rubbed into their coats it is very effective against fleas, ticks, lice, and other pests on pet dogs, cats, and their premises. It can also be used as an organic wormer and will kill any worms or parasites the pets may have. When using as a de-wormer mix the Diatomaceous Earth into your pet’s food. Mix well into kibble and wet food. Ask your vet how much for your size pet. General guidelines are listed here. Cats – 1 teaspoon/day Weaned Kittens – 1/4 teaspoon/ day Dogs – 50kg + 2 tablespoons/ day 25 - 50kg – 1 tablespoon/ day under 25kg – 2 teaspoons/ day Minidogs – 1 teaspoon/ day Plants: For control of aphids, white fly, beetles, caterpillars, mites, leaf hoppers, and others. Use Diatomaceous Earth inside your home, greenhouse or outdoors on fruits, vegetables, flowers, grains and grass, up to and including day of harvest. For dry application of Diatomaceous Earth use a duster and cover entire plant, apply to both top and bottom of leaf. For young plants, as little as one kg per acre may be adequate. For larger plants, five lbs per acre is probably sufficient. Diatomaceous Earth will need reapplication after a rain. Applies best when there is dew or after a light rain. It is a long lasting, effective powder. The insects can not build up resistance. Livestock: All livestock, Horses, Cows, Pigs, Sheep, Goats, Rabbits, Chickens and others will benefit from the use of Diatomaceous Earth. It is completely safe and nontoxic. Some of the benefits are; Control of fleas and ticks, stimulates basic metabolism, converts feed better, reduces odor and moisture in sheds and stalls, results in better coat and hoof condition, keeps fly larvae from developing in manure, noticeably reducing the fly population, reduces annual vet bills, controls worms and internal parasites without chemicals, better egg production, stronger eggs, and reduces overall animal stress. Diatomaceous Earth can be mixed right in with the animals feed. Cows/Horses get 1/2 cup per day, Sheep/Goats/Hogs get 1/4 cup per day, For Chickens and other livestock you need to weight the feed and add 2% of that weight in Diatomaceous Earth. Your livestock will also get the benefit of over 14 trace minerals that make up Diatomaceous Earth. Stored Grain: Just add 3 - 6kgs. of Diatomaceous Earth to each ton of grain as it is conveyed into the storage. When added to grain, Diatomaceous Earth killed the bugs that were present, and protected the grain from further invasions. Bugs could not become immune and they were killed by physical action, not chemical. When using diatomaceous earth regularly and/or in large amounts, wear a dust mask, gloves and a good set of goggles. . Your best friends come in all shapes and sizes. Protect them with Diatomaceous Earth. Effective against fleas, ticks, lice, and other pests on pet dogs, cats, their premises, and other warm-blooded animals subject to these parasites. Dry Application Cover the affected area with DE Powder at the rate of 1 cup to 2 cups. per 200 square metres Fleas, Ticks, and Lice - Lightly work the material into the hair of the animal. Use brush or comb to work the material down to the skin. Pay strict attention to places where the animal cannot reach, such as the scalp. Dust the ears of the animal with care. Dust the animal's bedding and areas where the animal sleeps, as well as cracks and crevices adjacent to them. Repeat once a month or as necessary. Individual ticks observed on the animal should be dusted thoroughly. Premise Application For animals confined to a specific area infested with fleas and ticks, dust the entire area with DE. Large Application Areas; Use any hand application designed for the purpose of discharging powder. If using a small lawn fertilizer spreader, mix equal parts of dry sand with DE Powder for even flow. Dust thoroughly the first time and then periodically reapply as needed. Wet Application - Mix with water at the rate of 1/4 cup per Litre of water. To help keep it in suspension, add one teaspoon of mild detergent and agitate the sprayer now and then while applying. Food Grade Diatomaceous Earth Feed Grade Diatomaceous Earth is totally organic and safe. It contains less than 1% percent of Crystalline Silica. Some of the uses for Diatomaceous Earth include; household pets, gardens, flower beds, field crops, grain storage, and livestock feeding. Diatomaceous Earth is Mother Nature's product with no harm to the environment, pets or to people. Diatomaceous Earth is not an earth, it is the fossilized remains of microscopic shells created by one celled plants called DIATOMS. Diatomaceous Earth (DE) is a wonderful product for those wanting to use natural pesticides. This is a fossil shell which dehydrates insects and pests. For internal use- worming and external use-lice, fleas, cockroaches, ants, caterpillars, it will naturally clear many problems with raising livestock and growing produce. I provide a fine 100% DE for both external and internal use of domestic animals gardening. Diatomaceous Earth kills by physical action, not chemical, by puncturing the insect's exoskeleton and absorbing the moisture in their bodies. It desiccates the bugs. Absorba-Cide kills insects by absorbing oils and waxes from the insect cuticle thus facilitating moisture loss and death by dehydration. In addition, the shards of silica in the material abrade the animal leading to its physical disintegration. When this thin, waterproof layer is damaged, the insect or insect egg loses water and dies. DE also has microscopically razor sharp edges, which works as an abrasive sandpaper to kill the insects. This killing action is a mechanical not pesticidal one. If kept dry, DE has an indefinite shelf life and remains effective for as long as it is present. DE, also called ‘sharp sand’, is sourced from the fossilised remains of freshwater single-celled plants. Uses: Internationally DE has a wide range of uses in organic agriculture and household pest control and is included in products which are registered, marketed and certified for the control of cockroaches, silverfish, ants, fleas, flies, ticks, lice, earwigs, aphids, white fly, beetles, loopers, mites, snails, slugs, leaf hoppers.
