Hi, Can you help me determine what one of my recent babies is? Here I Mum:- and Dad:- He is definitely split to ino and opaline and possibly some dilute mutation as evidenced in his last clutch. So here is the baby that I need help working out. It is a red-eyed ????? Also would I be correct to assume it must be a female? Any expert advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hi everyone, sorry if this is in the wrong place or is redundant and has been answered before, but I've just received a young budgie approx. 30 days from a family member that has an aviary and occasionally has a clutch of babies. However, this budgies parents have both died quite unluckily. The mother's death has an unknown cause, but she's been a prolific breeder pretty much laying eggs in a constant stream one clutch after the other as soon as her previous babies have fledged- perhaps exhaustion? The father flew out of the aviary unfortunately. I'm no stranger to budgies, I currently own 3 pets of my own and have hand-raised various birds before but I'm not entirely familiar with feeding budgies. The young budgie clearly can't feed on his own yet as he is completely reluctant to nibble on anything. It's literally just left the nest about a day ago, after the parents died/flew away, he went out of the nest on his own. He's fully feathered and can fly, though I'm not sure how confident he is. It's my understanding that the father feeds the fledged budgie for a few weeks after its left the nest for the first time, does this mean I have to start feeding with a formula mixture to try and wean him? I'm about to leave for the specialised pet store, so if anyone could give me any advice on tips on feeding, how long, what with, how to wean or if I even need to hand-feed at all, let me know! Thanks so much.

Hi, I am a new breeder. I am cabinet breeding and have four pairs set up. All with everything they need, cuttlebone, mineral blocks, calcium blocks, veggies everyday, constant supply of food etc... My first clutch was laid and on the due date the first baby hatched (another one due today). After two days though this baby died. I'm unsure why, I know these things happen, nature and all but I really want to prevent any future "preventable" deaths. I found the baby this morning, it had a completely empty crop :/ The parents are first timers, but both are over a year old. I have hand rearing stuff in case, but I was hoping the parents would do a good job, any advice? So far my breeding set up looks great and it is all from the research I had done prior, I spent hours going over every topic of this forum and the FAQs as well, but maybe there is some information I am missing? Thank you
