Hypothetical Question , How many Breeders will be at this auction? And How many will be Serious Purchasers?

A lot of tyers kickers & maybe 29 Serious Buyers & a few looking to pick up a bargain.

what do you think a bargain at this auction would be macker being realistic knowing you are only taking a ball figure of what you yourself believe a bargain here at this auction would be

i think more than 30 real buyers going yes lots lookers but more than 30 true bidders i think

LOL - unfortunately some of those serious buyers will buy more than 1 pair. One pair = $2000. You going there Matt?

Hi All

I just wanted to Remind everyone that the Chidel Auction is Tomorrow.

I will be there helping out running the birds, Even if you are not buying if you can make it i am sure it would be a great eye opener as for quality and what a awesome stud should look like.

Chidel Is one of the premier breeders in Australia and to see him sell his stud, i just cannot beleive it but it is happening tomorrow.

So if you can come on down and have a look.

Do not bring the wife just in case you are tempted.

I am sure some of these birds will go for Thousands

That greywing grey is priceless.

Hope to see some of you guys there. If you are there come and say Hi.

My name is John.

I have put the link for you to see the quality of the birds he has ------------> http://www.hillsbran...talogue-web.pdf

Wonder how it is going, 3 members from my club drove through the night, lol glad them and not me,

Mark has some stunning birds and I would love to own some of them but a lot are flecked. I have enough flecking in my aviary so my view is that I am not missing out of much and plus they are right out of my price bracket. If I had the money that my club members took up there i would buy myself a new car and a good one at that so I can get around again (go to the next shield would be nice). lol

Once the flecking appears it is very hard to get rid of. The flecking in my birds is hidden and I believe it is coming from the Watson blood birds.

This is my view only so no one bite my head off.

I have an update, just heard that the top price bird so far got $6,000. wow

Splat hi gees 6g for a budgie as i say is it a hobby or business ???? dont mind parting with $500 but 6gs no guarantees that is does not drop off the perch before you even get over the harbour bridge or even lays or fertileses a n egg what price success hey. My brother is one of the pencilers so will await his update. Flecking/ticking does not worry me as with the birds im using if we pair flecked/ticked birds together we generally do not see it in any of the young. ........ are you going to Western Suburbs Auction. ...CHEERS TAZ D

I dont know if anyone went but i was the one carrying the show cages with birds back and forth with the birds for auction.

It was well organised by the Hills Branch as always and all the members did a fantastic job.

The birds did go for a high amount but if you saw the quality on display it was jaw dropping.

The birds had so much feather and Width Of shoulder along with spot size depth of mask and the directional feather on the head was simply amazing.

The guy has been breeding for 20 years and has won 8 National awards and todays auction showed why.

For me it was an eye opener for what i would need to breed to compete at a top level.

Also imagine how much money and time has been spent getting these birds to this level.

It is a credit to their owner.

All in all it was a fantastic day.

Now lets hope all the people who purchased the birds know what to do with them.

Good luck & hope there are many youngsters for the future.

Regards

John

I agree John but it is NO hobby when you spend that much money on birds, I know of beginners spending large amounts how can the ordinary breeder compete. it has to be on what they know or have learnt.

I find it actually frustrating.

Mark has beautiful birds and good on him, he has done the hard yard, a bird is only worth what we are willing to pay and some people have very deep pockets and can go for it and other don't. I have to admit with what I have bred form my culls that I have bought I am very proud. Winning a shield and placing in top 5 and winning grand champion etc. with out spending a fortune.

Hey Taz how does that work by putting to flecked together and you get no flecked because if I do that I get worse flecking.

Well let me say this. I think hobbies are a good thing and I encourage everyone to have at least one past-time.

Depending on your financial circumstances you are more or less able to invest in your passion.

I have no doubt that if I had the disposable income I would be over at the Hills auction every year and buying up big at this auction too - it is a very rare opportunity to bring in quality stock.

But I don't laugh.gif So I just look at the auction pictures insteadsmile.gif

SPLAT Dont know if im lucky or what but as long as one is flecked and ther other only ticked then there is no issue .............I think it is to do with the family most of my birds are 95% David Bishop blood and are all nearly go back to his orginal two birds Most of the opalines that i breed are heavily flecked we just dont pair two heavily flecked birds together. ........need an opinion on the morning of the western suburbs auction. Total i have for the first 98 birds $146,000 and i had missed one so aprox average $1500 per bird for the 97 lots i was there for. So it will be interesting grand total as i could heard while collecting mine the end birds was going for good prices about $1500 plus some very nice birds there.
