We have the Caloundra show on this weekend which is held up here in Maleny.

On Saturday night they will be having fireworks, should I be worried about the noise when they go off at 8pm?

I don't live far from the show grounds where the show is held.

I don't wont my birds going crazy in the aviary and hurting them selfs.

Thanks

Geoff

Hard to know how the birds would react. My cavalier Cricket throws herself at the back door in panic over fireworks.

Maybe if you have a suitable sized tarp you could throw it over the aviary and see if it helps.

Fireworks near the budgies at the nationals is not a good idea ....is it :)

My aviary is fully covered with a night light so hopefully it will be okay.

I will report back on this subject after the fireworks and let you know how they went.

I was going to recommend putting a light on for them, but you've already got one. Good idea. I know it won't stop the sound, but may make it a little less stressful if they can see better!?!? Good luck!

not sure about birds but for training dogs to loud noises you need to start small.. clap from a distance then when they arent stressed by that clap louder, then get closer.. get a $2 cap gun and use that at a distance getting closer..

my dogs are really good with loud noises, thunder etc dont bother them, most of the neighborhood dogs go to town but when we have fireworks/thunder and the like

The fireworks have been and gone  my boys and I were on the back veranda when they went bang and they were very loud and very bright from our place.

The birds handled it very well with not even a murmur coming from the aviary which really surprised me considering all the huge bangs

Thanks for all the advice.

I'm glad to hear that they did not get spooked.
