I believe If you go to his place you pay $500 a pair $1000 for a Diploma bird that's what a friend told me the yesterday as he enquired about buying some. :)

Actually he said $100 up but that would be really **** birds, you wouldn't get anything decent off him for a hundred you would need to spend at leat $250 for a decent one.But he has earnt his name so I guess he is entitled to charge that. He does have good birds nice face with good feather but some are shourt in the body.

No No No No Splat - The watson birds in Eastern auction were from Roger Watson - a breeder from Melb, Not Gary Watson from Leeton. Big Difference

Well there is Matthew Lloyd who plays full forward for the Bombers, but I'm not sure if he breeds budgies

Gee Heath I didn't think he had any in that auction, I don't know of that Roger Watson

Well sorry everyone I was talking about Gary Watson but when Jimmy said watson and they went for $800 plus I assumed Gary.

So what Heath does this Watson guy have good birds too bit confusing :)

Hey Jimmy,

At the begining of the auction catologe there's a Breeder Profile and Jeff Lloyd is mentioned as to whether there are any more I couldn't tell you.

 Well I did have 7 now only 5 ,

I did something I never normally do and because during the day without my knowledge my husband had organized for us to go out last night, to a friends for dinner, I left the birds in the show cages. We were orginally going to pop some cage fronts onto the cages we have built, but I told my husband as long as we get the birds into proper cages today as soon as possible, I would have to deal with it. Anyway earlier today I went to the bird room and they seemed to being doing fine. I decided to leave the door of the bird room open because it was a nice day and yes you guess it one of the doors on a show cage had come loose and when we had finished the cages I went to swap over the birds and one of the cages was empty  . Thank God I didn't have the really big bucks to spend. I have wasted $120.00 but I have to look on the bright side and be glad because it wasn't a lot more. Big lesson lent!!!

Oh BL13 we have all done that!

On the other note about Roger Watson, if you want to check out his culls he sells to Burwood birds and pets. We can pick up his culls for around $20 - $30 a bird. In fact we purchased the sister of one bird that went for over $300 for $20. Granted she is a little smaller but not by much.

Ouch Budgielover13 sorry to hear that. :o

AV I might have to pop in to Burwood Pets then, I went to a pet shop in South Melbourne the other day and saw some really nice birds, I was surprised, they had the female sign up on the males and the male sign up on the females though, cant expect perfection... :D

Jimmy you said that Watson birds were more popular what did they fetchAy the Geelong Auction I met Macka, I was leaning on a bench and this guy came up and said are you splat and I said excuse me and he said are you Splat and I looked at him starnge :D THEN i relized Splat of this forum that's my name and I thought he was insulting me B) So it was really nice meeting Macka and now I no who he is.
Yes I have to admit,Splat looked at me with daggers,I thought I must have the wrong person. B) This Roger Watson,I don't know if I have heard of him.Has he been around for a while, asking that sort of moneyfor birds,is he tyed up with the Leeton Watson.? :o

Roger has been around for a while. he does Greys mostly. Normally he will call me and says he has a cull cage and if i buy through him direct I can get them for around $10 a bird. he seems to have two types of birds. Birds he culls (and some of these are really good but he missed ringing them so they are unrung) and birds he keeps/shows/sells at auction.

Getting some of his better culls as a place to start would not be a bad idea if you are starting out.

BL13, sorry to hear about the lose of those two, which two were they???

Jimmy, Tell your wife that she wasnt the only "black" person there, I tried to give her the traditional polly greeting, but she looked alittle uncomfortable! I was the light "black" Maori guy sitting on the edge lol, you guys should look at coming to one of our meets, they are really relaxing, and if you sit back and listen, you get to learn a few things! You even get a laugh out of some of the older breeders! There is one Thursday 26th starting at 8pm, there will be a small club show on, and one of the breeders is going to bring in his feather duster for all to have a look at! Same place that the auction was held!

If anyone else wants to come along feel free we have an open door policy, make yourself known to either AV or myself or BL13 0r melbournebudgies ( Ill put sneeky stickers on their backs so you can find them, lol)

Promise you wont get pestered on the first meeting!

Yep!

Sorry Pippi I also would have said Italian, and to answer your question the 2 birds I lost were the yellow face grey whose tail was justing starting to grow and the normal cobolt blue or was it a sky, gee the catologue is in the birdroom and I can't remember for sure. But I diffinately still have the mauve, the violet, the green spangle, the albino and I can't think for the life of me what the last one is. :) Is getting late and my brain has gone into shut down.
