  7. eight is normally when they sit but if the have more than that they will wait till they finished laying before collecting then once all collected the sit quail eggs don't incubate until they collect them all just the more they lay the least out come i had 30 eggs for seemed like forever then when i tossed them 11 were a day off hatching so i just leave mine then once collected all eggs i let them sit for their presumed cycle before discarding i find always get chicks with out fail this way
  8. [yeah dad is holding grey factor found that out as he was placed with a cremino and first out come was dark olive of normale type and second out come was two cin hen lime green of normale type so really dad must be a normal then not a spangle so this changes everything ... hum now what ? yes but can only post when at my bros house so will do that mabe tomorrow if i can get their she is very white no blue shine if not tommorrow with in week kalso the yellow wing olive cin cock the inos father he has a blue tailas does his son from cremino hen
  9. cheers mate so dad must be cin split can you tell me would i be best at putting him with a visual violet hen next time and also can anybody please tell me how close is too close when doing line breeding but my way which does not involve back crossing not yet any way as need to know the afects that could rezult all my birds have been seperately bread. For example two sets of two fresh blood lines to each other and then the partners swap. The chicks from these four breedings have not been bread at all yet. Then each one of these chicks have been bread with new blood. My question is Can i breed all of the outcome offspring which would retrospecively make them cousins? But this is my query.....Half are brother and sister from fathers side and half are brother and sister from mothers side. Noting that these chicks were not bread together. all of them had freash blood partners so is it safe to breed all the half blood related birds chicks together .... i almost confuzed myself then
  10. yeah no he is not recessive pied - to think he could throw mauve would be fantastic as they would fit perfect in my mauve line .But was going to use them for my dom rainbows, if the yellow face was not present. that was my hope thanks, will post pics of chicks and mum n dad when they arrive cheers any other thoughts would help as to achieve a nice colour aiming towards bettering my dom rainbows
  11. I have placed a yellow faced type 2 sky blue (sea foam green) opaline spangle with an ino hen. Her mother is a colbolt blue recessive pie. Her father is a yellow wing type 2 cin olive green spangle. His father is cobalt blue yellow face harlequin pie. His mother is a white wing cin laced spangle cobalt blue two factor violet. I was wondering if any one has any idea if I could possibly have chicks that result similarly to any of the two's parents of the bred birds. (ino cross yellow face opaline spangle) Bit confusing i know but what confuses me more is that when I purchased the ino her eyes were black for the first three months of her life. I then noticed they changed to pink. Definitely is not other bird. I only have the one white hen. :party0011: HEEEELLLLLPPPPP Please.
  12. thanks neville i have a short cut though. my friend just got a yellow lace wing from me as i decided to stick to blue based, so will put split chick to her white lace wing. but will see. maybe i will just stick to my dom rainbows later am going to breed some fallows but its hard to get nice blue base fallows out my way. oh and the df spangles chicks do have a very faint cinnamon lace thats why i wondered if the could have had lace wing potential but unless dad split for cin its from mum as she is cin i was thinking thats why kaz said thay were hens
  13. yeah i am breeding a yellow face type two ino cock to a cinnamon wing spangle hen at moment first egg today so fingers crossed. i read somewhere you cannot breed ino to fallow is this so ?also should the cock be the ino or the hen for that outcome you expressed or does it not matter ?hi liv hi all well can any one tell me the best combination for these chicks i have some lovely clear flight babys out box today mauve would that have a good result with my babys for future breeding if i keep them?
  14. sorry liv wont happen again set camera to the size photo allowed but some reason computer made them bigger little brother told me how to fix that for future. bye everyone hope to see some helpful replys. that's what I thought, just got told different knew you guys would know so just to keep or not to keep till next time x x x x
  15. here are the parents of my baby's and the baby's can anyone please tell me what typing they could possibly be eg are they more likely to be double factor spangles or maybe lace wings or what how do i know if they are going to get the Cinnamon lacing like mum or stay as is and what should i pair with if or at all i keep and breed latter for the best possible result http://i438.photobucket.com/albums/qq108/c...to/BILD0280.jpg http://i438.photobucket.com/albums/qq108/c...to/BILD0287.jpg http://i438.photobucket.com/albums/qq108/c...to/BILD0286.jpg http://i438.photobucket.com/albums/qq108/c...to/BILD0282.jpg http://i438.photobucket.com/albums/qq108/c...to/BILD0281.jpg http://i438.photobucket.com/albums/qq108/c...to/BILD0285.jpg

  18. look i was trying to delete before i wrote to you but takes to long you baby is just like my little girls father it is yellow face type two which i think you have established but he may be holding violet in one factor and when he gets older his chest will be the same as now only his color will obviously get darker blue almost shine cobalt he is lovely
  19. hio neat i finally got near a computor lol if your trying to put the yellow face type two into your birds be careful as you would be awear it changes the colour of the body color i am trying to replace type 2 with type one and was on my way but due to some humans nature have to start again i had six birds taken let out either one yesterday upsetting but you get that im just glad only one bird was of my own strain so not so disapointing well i still dont know how to find where you guys are all at so catch you
  20. this is a mistake i did myself last week only i lost my hen her chicks were only two weeks and she had a second box with 2 foster chicks 3 of her own. I was concerned dad would not cope but remembering a time when a cock died quiet suddenly for no known reason months before leaving the hen to hatch and raise 5 chicks alone very successfully, my opinion would be to let her sit she will leave the box if she decides not to raise just keep very healthy and varied diet available and food close /water so she can reach with out leaving for to long her eggs only discard eggs if hen is not eating and loses condition as for dad he raised all five chicks and one more i fostered as last chick was leaving nest he is still in prim but is getting special treatment for being my hero and a holiday , good luck what ever you decide.
  21. hi mate i am only new to violets but found some good info called the facts about violet budgerigars help full the original artical by peter bergman of sydney, australia it may helpand one by john w.Evans on violet lace wing breeding hope this helps
  22. what type birds you breed or just any and every variety of budgies do you know a lot or just learning with experience? thanks it did not take as long as i anticipated to find the best and quickest way to achieve her coloring although she was a surprise only as i thought i would need to breed my strand longer before this out come but with some luck and the ability to recognise birds holding violet factor in all its types came across a double factor yf cobalt hen 2 factors yellow hit the jack pot i rarely keep my hens but she will stay although i know she will turn sea foam above her band but thats something to work on sorry not quiet sure what you call a short cut i am dyslexic and have trouble spelling and don't know how to reply with out the quote part i will learn also on brothers com i dint have internet yet so will only be on when i visit him i will do best to learn all the rules thank you how do i reply like a normal person without the repetition of what people have said ? and where do i go to chat to others and stuff kaz do you realize that i was not being rude before just i worded what i was saying wrong what i meant was that i exert the category of type you placed my little girl in just i read back just know what i wrote to you and realized you may of thought i think i know something ... when i only know basic genetics not much about typing and categories i am always calling something something it is not sorry if i offended you i do thank you greatly for your placing her appropriately
  23. i am learning about the hidden genetic make ups and the advantages and disadvantages they can have on my own aventer to breeding my own strain of my perfect bird oh and how to semi use a computer and i hope i can meet and talk with many of you and find out best breedings to achieve certain genetic make ups
  24. okay thanks , i do know that and as you would definitely know way more than me except this typing just i am deliberating to breed lavender birds of which i have reviewed for years now and she comes from a strand i breed particularly to achieve rainbows with the distinct color banding i am at the moment working on removing the type 2 yf factor could you give me a tip on what i should pair with her when she gets older i was thinking possibly a visual violet white wing opali n spangle cock i have he is very dark in colour personally i am not to into dilution so but want a distinct violet thanks sure you will all help me heapsWe will do our best! ... and remember, no question is ever silly or dumb! We were all new to budgies once.i never feel I'm asking something silly or dumb as they are just natural ability's i posses lol
