Unnatural acts with inanimate objects. I always thought it was funny ....Now it's just weird :hap: So here is Ken and I sitting on the back patio listening to the melodious chirping of budgies. When.............. out of the corner of my eye I saw what looked like budgie bonking going on. There was the budgie on the rope slung from the aviary roof, going hammer and tongs budgie bonking on a section of rope that was all fuzzy and ragged. BUT......it was one of the young baby twins (Kirby has named them Splish and Splash)....too young for budgie bonking. It was then in the half light that I noticed she had no partner but was doing the male equivalent of bonking the rope perch :fear When she had finished and flew away........about five minutes later a paired couple of budgies also sat on the same section of rope. It is dusk, so when I saw him doing the same thing, I thought he was budgie bonking his partner. Then noticed she was beside him watching........as he too bonked the rope perch !! :fear Ken was beside himself cracking up with laughter. I was agog, thinking how I could cut that section of rope away to take away "temptation" Then I was thinking what if some innocent female budgie came and sat on the rope where he had just had his fun ?! Seriously guys, I now know what you are on about and what I have been laughing about all along...it's really true. Budgies do get erotic over inanimate objects. :hap: Now I know someone is going to say it could be something in the water .... it has just occurred to me that I put worming stuff in their water today Edited April 21, 2006 by budgiebird Link to comment

I've rearranged Blinkie's cage sooooo many times and he always finds something to hold onto so he can hump his perch. When i removed the rope he started humping other stuff. :(Laughing out loud): Link to comment

Blinkie humps his perch and flirts with the most ridiculous things (toes, fingers, carrots, etc) while Mickey (my jack russell) humps feet and his blanket. All the aviary budgies put on a 'charming' display whenever guests go out to say hello too. :dbb1: Link to comment

Guest Phoebe
None of my budgies has ever humped anything in all the years I have had them but I did have a cockatiel, Cricket, that did enough humping for a lifetime for me. His favourite thing was a big hunk of brocolli on top of his cage, he would eat it, hump it, eat it, hump and throw it down on the floor for me to pick up (and would scream until I did, just like all his million of toys). I would pick it up (wash my hands) and the whole process would start again. YUCK! Link to comment

I was on top of the aviary putting up iron sheets to make more of the aviary weatherproof. I went inside to check how it had turned out and the same young twin budgie was bonking the fuzzy bit of rope AGAIN !! :bluebudgie: He must have enjoyed it the first time enough to come back for seconds.
