:ausb: Don't guilt yourself into it for sure, really check out the bird and decide if this is what you want to do. I have 1 rescue cockatiel (and she is fantastic, very affectionate), 2 rescue lovebirds - both tame but one a little skittish but he was in the rescue place for 2 years, 2 rescue budgies that are kind of wild but you can get them into their cage usually (Comet and Star), and 2 rescue budgies that are semi-tame (Buddy and Coco) that will perch on your finger and they are new (well a month since I got them). Unfortunately I have had a multitude of health problems since I got the last two (to the doctor again yesterday) and can't be chasing them all over but once I get well, will definitely work on retraining the last two as they have great potential. So don't be ruled by your heart, but if you have the time to work with her, it will most probably be a rewarding experience. :hap: (And she is very pretty, looks my geriatric troublemaker, Comet).

I looked at shelters when after I got my first two, but none had any birds. So it was to the petstore for me. But I think it would be wonderful if you could make a home for her. She is pretty and looks young.

I really can't tell if it is a she from the pose, check out Pretty's cere as they are the same mutation if it is a female it will be more pale and with whitish nostrils. Pheobe gave you excellent advice.

l have an update.

unfortunately l haven't received any response and l can't get a hold of the shelter by phone and they don't operate through a location just through foster homes for pets .

l'm hoping that maybe someone already adopted him and he is in a good home.

:D Try e-mailing again just for followup, rescues are mostly manned by volunteers and most of their time is spent taking care of the animals so they don't always get to the paper work promptly. Also, most of them thoroughly screen their potential applicants which could take up to two weeks, so, since they haven't contacted you yet, don't rule yourself out. Good Luck! :)

Pheobe's right, these places are so busy and sometimes it can take a while to get back to you. I'd try and get in contact with them again  It also shows your keen to look after him and if they're anything like us at the Arc we don't just give animals to anybody who asks for one.:)

 And that is a good thing Bec, it means they aren't going from a possibly bad situation (although there are some animals surrendered due to sickness, death or other issues, not abuse or neglect) to a worse situation.
