Great article!

However, it leaves me asking more questions than I had before I read it! Now, I know nothing about genetics, so perhaps some of it is covered in there rather than being distinct to budgies or birds.

What's the difference between a variety and simply having a different colour and / or pattern?

What does "split for colour" mean?

Does sex-linked simply mean that only the male can pass that feature on, and non-sex-linked mean only the female passes it on?

Do you commonly get mixes of the colours and varietys?

okay, that'll do for now. I'm just a simple programmer, not a geneticist!

Thanks for the post.  I agree with you, but I didnt know about the single and double dark factors in Grey Greens.  I have 4 Grey Greens and they are all the same color.  I was thinking that the only way I could tell was by a test breeding.  Do you have any pictures of the different factors?

What about Slate?  I have a spangle that I suspect is a slate.  Can you give me some info on breeding him?  I currently have him paired with a sky blue dilute.

I have one male dark green and one female skyblue. If they have eggs is there any chance of getting a blue chick?
