Guest Eily
Boy or girl? I took this photo yesterday of my baby budgie which the pet store said was around 4 - 8 weeks old. It' cere is currently white with white rings around the nostrils but I think I can see a tiny of blue coming through. Thanks. Link to comment

Guest Eily
Thanks. Bessie is doing well, and is very playful and mischevious. The rings around her nostrils are still very white but there is no sign of any brown yet, in fact sometimes I think I can see a bit of blue. Link to comment
Guest Eily
Bessie and Booboo are now sharing a large cage and getting on fine, rubbing beaks and preening. Booboo is still doing the frenzied mirror humping thing though. Link to comment

Guest Eily
take the mirror out that is not good for her emotionally and then reintroduce if you like for short period of times, arrange toys weekly. I took Booboo's favourite humping mirror (the one on the left) out of the cage yesterday and she chewed right through a rung of her small perch. We had to buy a new one .. Here they are just before bedtime .. Edited June 2, 2006 by Eily Link to comment

Guest Eily
Bessie (the blue and white bird on the left)'s cere is getting some pink in it. She is still chewing through the rung on the wooden mirror perch and yesterday broke the rung off the plastic mirror perch. Booboo (the bird on the right) is still humping the mirror but I take it out occasionally. Booboo's cere is dark pink/light brown. People on this forum have said that Booboo is a boy. So if Bessie's cere is turning pink does that mean she is a boy too? I'm confused now .. Edited June 7, 2006 by Eily Link to comment

Guest Eily
They share a cage but Booboo is at least 3 years older than Bessie. Booboo likes to preen Bessie but they fight a bit as well. Should I expect any mating activity? Link to comment

Booboo will be interested, and Bessie may occasionally let him mount her this young, but only because she has no idea what is going on yet. The likelihood increases if she lets him feed her, but at her age I would guess she wants to be fed because she is a baby, and BooBoo wants to feed her for another reason entirely. Once her hormones really kick in, she may not want so much contact with him, LOL. If they continue to mate (and there is no guarantee they ever will) seperate them. Link to comment
Guest Eily
Uh oh. I just fed Booboo a nice large baby spinach leaf and about one minute later noticed Booboo joining beaks with Bessie (which they are doing a lot lately) then regurgitating spinach into Bessie's mouth. Does this mean I'm going to be a proud grandmother soon? Link to comment
