Apples not quite sure about him yet but hopefully he will get over that I have Munchy in a small cage and Apple swings all over the outside of it yelling out "Watcha doin" at poor lil Munchy most of the time though Munchy calls back out with a little trill.. Apples being a little turd (Laughing out loud) i don't think he likes another budgie in his territory, but i cant blame him since he is a spoilt lil brat :(Laughing out loud): Hes gone to peck Munchy a few times, well each time he gets close enough to reach out :dbb1: but i'm keeping my fingers crossed as this is the first day that Munchy has been inside. Make sure you still spend as much or MORE time with Apple so he doesn't feel he's being ousted. You have such cute birdies. Apple really doesn't like him and spent a good portion of his time today in his cage sulking (when he wasnt trying to pluck Munchys feathers). Apple wont come near me if i have Munchy and looks at me as if i'm a alien.. Maybe if Munchy was a little bigger Apple might accept him more readily, although Munchy is already as big as Apple is :(Laughing out loud): even Munchys eyes are twice the size of Apples Ill see if he will go back into the nest but keep up full contact with him while he is still outside and try to bring him inside again in a few weeks or so Edited January 7, 2006 by una Link to comment

I really don't want to get Apple off side considering the reason of getting Munchkin inside was as a play mate for Apple I also don't want to risk taking too long making up my mind incase the mum wont accept munchy back, but I CANT MAKE UP MY MIND I've had NO experience of introducing pet budgies especially babies to older ones, so i'm not sure if Apples behaviour is what i should be expecting HELPPPPPPP!! Second, Lin I told you Apples mine first (Laughing out loud) Not an expert here but I would think that 1 day is too short to determine if Apple will accept Munchy or not. A slower introduction in order? I would say keep them side by side in different cages and let Apple go at his pace and be able to inspect the little guy from his cage. Don't hold Munchy when Apple is out, only when Apple is back in his cage and maybe where he can't see you doing it. Then play with Apple with Munchy in his cage but let him watch therefore he doesn't become protective, he is used to you playing with Apple. I am no bird expert in behavior I could be totally off my rocker here, maybe someone else will step it but I would think that Apple needs to accept Munchy FIRST and then accept the fact that he needs to share you with him too. I think i spent most of the night thinking about it and yeah i realized that Apple has absolutely NO IDEA what Munchy is :(Laughing out loud): Apple on my fingers as i'm typing at the moment, whistling and talking to me so he seems fine today.. My main concern was getting him off side, that would just be the worse thing ever. but I think this will work out in the long run with Munchy inside they are in separate cages side by side so that they can check each other out, and i suppose it would freak Apple out that Munchkin wants to get near Apple but Apple has no clue what it is ... THANK YOU SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO MUCH for all the advice, it helped me just get my head on straight. and if you have ever watched "Finding Nemo" all i can say about Apple is "MINE MINE MINE MINE" Cheers :beer: Una Edited January 7, 2006 by una Link to comment
