Guest BrokenDreamz
Birdie seems to have something wrong with his wing... First off ive taken him to the vets and the vet was jsut confused it didnt seme like there was anything wrong with it and birdie doesnt seem any different there is a slight bump. i go see my birds and look them over every day before heading off to school and im prettymuch down here with them for the rest of the day afterwards i never once saw him look like he broke something or anything like that so im just confused here Area where bump is felt ( indicated by pencil)[/url] and that wing does come up higher i can stick my thumb under it its that far away from his body he does seem to fly crookedly with that side more down when he flys but it doesnt seem to bother him 1 bit! i can run my hand over his wing or spread it out and feel it for anything and he doesnt have a fit Any idea or suggestions? Guest PyscoFalcon
Hiya it could be a tumour. I would see an avian vet Link to comment
Guest Julie
Yes he does seem to be holding it strangely. I wonder if he has caught the feathers somewhere and sprained something and maybe the base is inflamed? As you can feel a lump, the vet needs to investigate further in my opinion. First of all, is your vet an avian specialist? They would have far more idea as to which avenues to investigate regarding your budgies wing. Its possible that the lump, and they way he holds his wing are entirely unrelated. This needs to be assessed. My budgie Teapot started holding his wing at a similar angle about a year ago. I rushed him to my avian vet thinking he may have a small fracture, but it turned out to be nothing more than a couple of misplaced feathers under his wing. They were jabbing at an awkward angle and irritating him, hence the odd wing angle. As he was in full moult at the time, we decided to let nature take its course rather than distress him by plucking the offending feathers out. The lump could possibly be nothing more than a bit of bruise tissue if he's banged his wing on something, it could be something more serious like a tumour. Related or unrelated, the two things need investigating as soon as possible. Please let us know how you get on. Anne Link to comment
Guest pixie25
i agree with chirpy. also, feather cysts often occur more frequently on the wings than on any other part of a budgies body so theres another suggestion. they are usally easy to remove on the wings, but the lump is usually visible with a cyst? i hope its nothng serious and that he gets well soon. love pixie Link to comment
Guest BrokenDreamz
i have seen an avian bet and hes looked all that over no tumour no broken wing no bruise just an odd little bumpand him holding his wing funny. its not his feathers ive gone over all that and so has the vet. it doesnt bother him at all really except in flying he would tilt and almost roll over in flight and that didnt look too good so i had to clip him i didnt need him flying upside down into a wall >.< it bugs me more then anybody else i think Link to comment
Guest eterri
Did the vet take a biopsy or x-ray or anything? It has to be something and if it affected his flying I'm sure it is bothering him. :/ Maybe you can get a second opinion? At the very least, keep at it until you find out what it is. I can imagine not knowing is really worrying. Link to comment
Guest BrokenDreamz
yup we got an x-ray and it was nothing. Ive called other vets but i just cant go to them their so far away. i know it affects his flying but thats about it and the wing posture. i hoped in coming here i might be able to find an answer but this is just driving me up the wall im just glad hes not being troubled by this the little guy Link to comment
