Guest spaceroo
So, just to let all of you breeders in on this, I found a REALLY great book. It was printed in 1988, and it's called : Budgerigars by Georg A. Radtke. This book is very informative, and it goes into very thorough explanations about colours, (it explains recessive and dominant), and all the types of budgies, and how to get those types. One of the best pieces of information is that putting cod-liver oil in your breeding hen's food can virtually eliminate egg-binding. There are also tips on what to do in the event that it happens. Oh yeah, and there are "Over 100 full-color photos and drawings" Link to comment

Guest spaceroo
I bought it from a used bookstore for about $2.50 Canadian. Very cheap. I'm not sure if it is in print now, but I'm sure it could be available in used store, or you could look online on e-bay or something. Or if a petstore keeps older books in stock...Just keep your eyes open. Link to comment

I had it out a few weeks ago. It was a nice book. There really aren't a lot of current books out on budgies, are there? Link to comment

Radtke if any one in the uk wants this book check ebay its nearly always on just looked and its there, there is also a copy of Best in Show by Gerald S. Binks although this is another oldbook it is well worth reading Edited August 5, 2005 by hath Link to comment

Guest potter
Hi, Just wanted to know if the "Budgerigars" book by Georg A.Radtke and "Budgerigars Enclycopedia" by Georg A.Radtke is the same book? The reason I ask is because that is the only book available on Amazon Canada. Link to comment
Guest eterri
What's the most up to date book you can get that goes into genetics and such? The ones mentioned sound good but it's a bit annoying (to me at least) having to weed out the bad/old information and pick out what still holds true. Link to comment
Guest Lin
Eterri, Sounds to me like your next project - a book on budgie genetics Link to comment
Guest eterri
*screams and runs away at the thought* Honestly... that would give me a headache that I'm not prepared to deal with. Just the website mutations page is making me loopy! Edited August 9, 2005 by eterri Link to comment

Another book that contains a mating chart is: BUDGERIGARS all you need to know by Michael S. Christian ISBN 0-07-470361-7 Link to comment
