Guest eterri
I had a feeling I was going to run into problem with that one, (Laughing out loud)! :(Laughing out loud): I can't tell you how many times I've argued with Richard about the names of food. (Well, we don't really argue, it's just neat seeing what people call different things in different places. It seems that America is just twisted with most of our words for the most part. ) That's what I meant. I'm not sure what you'd call it there. Link to comment

I hate porridge its gooey and mushy and yuk. My Dad loves it and puts treacle in it too - oh treacle = syrup! Link to comment
Guest eterri
Ooh! Makes sense! :(Laughing out loud): I love it but not with syrup. A little milk and a little sugar and some buttery toast and it's wonderful. Link to comment

Guest eterri
(Laughing out loud)! :(Laughing out loud): Sometimes I do put a bit of it on my toast, I admit. I love it. I'll tell you what is icky! Bovril or...that other name I can't think of at the moment. okay, I've never tried it but I just can't bring myself to spread something of that color on my toast. I've promised someone that I will try it though so I'll let you know if my opinion changes. Link to comment
Guest Lin
Yuk! Porridge! I have English parents, so porridge was practically by intravenous drip when I was a kid! Yuk, lumpy too! Unfortunately my kids love it, so now I have to cook it (but not eat it! thankfully) Link to comment

In Australia they have Vegemite but that tastes like soap. I dont like Bovril because its contains meat stuff. Porridge is gross and I bet my Beak Appetit will look exactly like it! Link to comment
Guest eterri
Yes, marmite! That's it. I've heard it's more of an acquired taste. Link to comment
Guest Lin
Have to agree - I've never liked vegemite. (OMG I was born here - what sacrilege to say I don't like vegemite! Help, please protect me from my countrymen!(Laughing out loud)) Mind you I don't like any black spreads. Link to comment

Guest eterri
:(Laughing out loud): (Laughing out loud)! I just can't spread something black or brown on my toast and eat it. I'm very visual with my eating. If it looks icky I can't eat it. Also, if it's meat and looks even remotely the same as it would when it was alive, I can't eat it. Like when you go to the grocery and you see the fish filets sitting there looking like...fish. It's not supposed to look like fish when you're cooking it! That's gross. Ick icky ick. (I do love fish but only when it is not in a fishy shape.) And porridge is yummy. Link to comment

Porridge stinks! Link to comment
Guest Lin
Oh I have to agree! I cook what little meat I eat to within an inch of it's life - no sign of blood, or else the dog gets it! And the only fish I buy comes crumbed already!!! I remember when I was about 14 this guy I had adored for ages finally asked me out. It was to a work do of his, and, of course I was really worried about showing him or me up, as I had never had a 'date' at a restuarant before. I ordered trout and it came with eyes and all! Yuk! I tried covering it up with a slice of lemon, but I knew it was still staring at me! Of course, everyone there knew why I couldn't eat it. Looking back at it, I know they were sniggering with me, not at me, but I was mortified! Ended Ross (the guy) was a pratt, and we broke up within weeks anyway!!! (Laughing out loud) Link to comment

Guest Lin
Yep, I was. And nearly 30 years later I can still remember what I was wearing, and what I ordered! Shows how much it scarred me didn't it? (Laughing out loud). Now when I'm out I make sure it is a fillet of fish that I order! Link to comment
Guest eterri
OMG. If that had been me, it would have ended much worse than that. The only thing worse than food looking like something alive is food looking AT you!! *faints* Link to comment
Guest Lin
Eterri, after that I turned vegetarian for 15 years! I kid you not! Then, when I did start eating meat, my partner used to cook whole fish in the oven. One night we had friends over, and he was really late getting home, so I put it in the oven. I had watched him, so knew how to put the tomato and lemon on, wrap it in foil etc. When I served it up, that was when I realised he also scaled the darn thing! I sometimes wonder why I don't have nightmares about fish attacking me or something... Link to comment

I can't stand the sight of fish at seafood shops, just the way the fish meat looks. It's also gross when there's baby octopus. Which part are you sposed to eat? The head or the legs? Link to comment

Ive left a small pot of it in each cage this morning before I came out - am just wondering when I get home who will have tried it, who will have flung it all over my floor and walls hehe! I refilled with fresh last night with no luck and again this morning so I hope they get a little bit more brave and have a nibble today, I think its probably the texture they dont like, its like a risotto. Oh and my Cafe Grass is about 2 inches tall now I will offer some tonight I reckon I will have more luck with that. Link to comment
